W***y spent a few days in the Monto hospital, and he quickly became a favourite. He enjoyed his walks out to the mailbox to help get the mail and would sit at the back door and watch the girls as they cleaned and restocked the vet cars. We even convinced him to participate in a bit of Christmas cheer before he went home! 🎅

For the last fortnight we had the pleasure of Samantha Creed joining us for placement for her 4th year from JCU. Sam was a huge help to all of our staff and had plenty of large animal exposure during her time with us. She also got to hang out and help with W***y while he was in hospital. 🐮

Both the Monto & Mundubbera clinic will be closing on Tuesday the 24th of December at 5pm for our Christmas break and will re-open on Monday the 6th of January at 8am.

Are you getting ready to do your yearly bovine castrations and branding? Are you currently using pain relief while doing so? If not, then why not consider starting this year.

There are so many great products on the market however our vets strongly recommend Metacam injectable which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

A single dose of metacam by subcutaneous injection, 10 minutes before the procedure last for 24-72 hours of pain relief.

We are excited to announce that MVG have purchased an Equine Gastroscope to be able to service our clients and their horses more frequently. We will be running scoping days once a month in Monto by appointments only.

Our first day will be held on the 12th of December with Dr Stacey Rae and Dr Laura Adams. We have the ability to video each session and if you bring along a USB we can make your video available for you. These videos also help the vets compare your horses ulcers at your follow-up appointment in 4-6 week's time, to determine if a longer treatment course is needed.

Check out some of the ulcers that we found at our last scoping day!

Kennel cough, also known as canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD) or infectious tracheobronchitis, is a highly contagious respiratory disease in dogs. Dogs can develop kennel cough approximately two to 14 days after exposure. If your dog has ever contracted canine cough, then this video would sound very familiar to you. Kennel cough can cause mild symptoms in some dogs, but it can progress to life-threatening pneumonia in others. Because of this, it’s important to recognize the symptoms of kennel cough.
