Today we will remember the people that fought for our freedom, I have some people saying that it’s going to be very hot today and my response is that the people we are remembering didn’t have a choice of fighting because it’s too hot, and we don’t have bombs and bullets to contend with, we only have the weather, Lest We Forget 👍

Nobody Likes a Nag....

Everyone knows a nag. Husbands hate even the thought of being nagged. Horses usually try to hide or run away from one. It's not effective in any form I've seen.

So stop it! There is no need to nag a horse. As far as the husband or kids I'll leave that alone.

See, the trouble is that nagging (micro-managing) causes whoever we are over managing to really just tune us out.

Do you trust that your horse will do it's job or do you choose to micro manage every step they take. Are you convinced the horse will need your constant guidance for a successful ride. I see many people stuck in a rut thinking that in order for things to go well they have to beg for forward movement or to place every foot down for their horse while over using the reins.

We all know that one person that whenever they are around we hear them talking...a lot, in fact they never shut up. Eventually that same person will lose influence because everyone around them will just tune them out. Are you at that place with your horse. Is your horse tuning out your rein cues because you have used to many "words."

How about your legs, I see many riders flopping like a fish, constantly kicking the horse to get into a particular speed or continually kicking to keep the horse at the desired speed.

Instead, let's get our plan in mind. Then softly communicate our idea to the horse. Wait for their response, if they respond accordingly stop asking. If not, ask again I little firmer. And repeat that sequence until the horse takes the responsibility on their own shoulders. Then, stop asking (nagging)....

No one likes a nag. And I believe no one likes too nag either. So let's stop....
No one has more to gain by not being nagged than the horse does. You might even get to heights you never dreamed of, all by using less "words."

Holding The Reins....

The question often comes up about how a rider should hold the reins while riding. Tight or loose, one hand or two, what to do with the rein tails, hand and finger placement and on it goes.

If the rider navigates with a very short rein with constant pressure on the horses mouth, that rider tends to get tuned out. And both get tired, maybe even burned out.

Now I ask you, how do you hold the reins on life. Have you shortened up, constantly pulling so tight on the reins that both you and the horse are worn out. Have you spent the majority of your time convinced that you have to pull back in an attempt to keep something bad from happening.

Now remember, this is likely all out of good intentions. However, sometimes in life, a good intention doesn't always produce a good result.

In order for something to change in life, we have to change something. Continue to do the same thing and we will continue get what we have always gotten.

I have learned that when riding and in life to put my hand down, loosen the reins and ride the next stride. Instead of worrying about what might happen, that I can't control anyway. When on a ride, when the boogy man jumps out, I will adjust my reins and stear and guide the horse towards peace and then go back to a lose rein.

Peace and calm can be experienced, usually when we make the determination to look at life from a different perspective and put our hand down.

The 5 Mile Equestrain Centre

Welcome to the 5 Mile Equestrian Centre. At the 5 mile i hope to create a place where people can come and enjoy their horses while in the company of like mined people. We want everybody to feel welcome and relaxed and to get back to just enjoying being with your horse. We have already held some horseman ship clinics and although the complex is far from being finished I think every body had a great time. The trail rides that we have been on were all well attended and it was fantastic to see the little kids out there with their pony's, When all this bu****it settles down we hope to make them a weekly event with a BBQ after so we can all get to know each other and we hope to attract more riders. In the future we hope to hold more horseman ship - Barrel racing- camp-drafting -Dressage and anything else that people want . This beautiful rain we are having will put a hold on the ride this weekend but I am looking forward to a good ride next weekend with a BBQ and camp-oven cooking on Saturday night . THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO MADE THIS HAPPEN
