Attention, pet parents! We’re seeing a concerning rise in heartworm-positive dogs in our area. Heartworm disease is a serious and life-threatening condition caused by parasites transmitted through mosquito bites. 🦟💔
Why This Matters:
Heartworms can lead to severe health issues like heart failure and lung damage, leading to fatality if not treated.
Prevention is crucial and straightforward with regular preventative measures.
Here’s How to Protect Your Pet:
Use Preventatives: Ensure your dog is on a heartworm prevention plan. Its is always recommended to use the annual heartworm injection, eliminating the uncertainty of monthly chews are forgotten.
Get Tested: Regular heartworm tests help catch any potential issues early.

Dear pet parents,
We regret to inform you that in a span of 5 days last week, we had two patients tragically pass away due to tick paralysis, despite being on monthly preventative chews. Our hearts go out to their families during this difficult time.
Tick paralysis is a serious and potentially fatal condition. While monthly preventatives are effective, it is simply too easy to forget every so often and the outcome can be heartbreaking.
To enhance your pet's defense against ticks, we strongly recommend considering the yearly flea and tick injection. This treatment, although more expensive than the monthly chews, offers extended protection and could be more suitable for pets at risk, especially during peak tick season.
Your pet's safety is our top priority, and we are here to discuss any concerns you may have or to schedule an appointment for the yearly injection. Please call us at 5498 6555 to learn more and take proactive steps to safeguard your furry family members.
Let's work together to keep our pets happy, healthy, and protected.
Sincerely,
Your local vets, Morayfield Veterinary Surgery
