This year marks Latecia’s debut as the Floral Art coordinator at the Morisset Show! She has a special interest in nurturing the growth and skill set of our upcoming florists in the industry. To encourage participation she has curated this year's schedule to include an exclusive Floristry TAFE student-only competition. Not only will participants compete, but they'll also enjoy mentorship, learning opportunities, and support throughout the journey.

To kick things off, Latecia organized a bus trip for the students to visit the Sydney Flower Markets. This trip was designed to introduce them to the new show schedule and industry suppliers who are vital for the growth of their floristry careers. Along the way, they had some fun with a stop at Saddles for a Mad Hatter’s party, where they were introduced to the exciting new headpiece competition sponsored by Shannon from La Bella Vita Photography. Then to finish the day a Bonsai demonstration from Ash at Bonsai World.

We look forward to this year's Floral Art competition as the energy around the new schedule builds.

Lake Macquarie City Council signs $40K sponsorship deal with Morisset Show for the next 4 years.

Mayor Adam Shultz said the $10,000 annual contribution would help ensure the event, officially known as the Morisset Lake Macquarie Agricultural Show, would continue to thrive.

“Morisset Show has been a staple in southern Lake Macquarie for 70 years, bringing the community together and driving local engagement and activation,” he said.

“It has changed a lot over those years, but it has always been a fantastic family event. This funding will help it remain a mainstay on the city’s calendar.”

This year’s show, to be held 18-19 October, will be part of the 2025 Lake Macquarie Action Fest, formerly known as Fast and Loud.

The weekend festival will also include Australian Offshore Powerboat Club racing, the Australian Formula Powerboats Grand Prix, NSW Personal Watercraft Club jetski racing and the Let’s Surf Lake Mac contest at Redhead Beach.

“It’s going to be a massive weekend from one end of the city to the other,” Mayor Adam said.

Morisset Lake Macquarie Show President Justin Rumore said the sponsorship would help streamline and expand the show.

“Morisset Show is a 71-year tradition to the Morisset and Lake Mac community,” he said.

“We provide an educational experience, as well as bringing the community together for a family-friendly, fun weekend, bringing the country to the city and highlighting what the region has to offer.”
