However, complications following a serious leg injury sustained by Michael during track work forced the business to be put on hold for a number of years. Now fully recovered, Michael wisely chose not to return to the saddle and instead switched his focus to training. Utilising the first class facilities that it has available at hand, MJM aims to grow into a boutique outfit, training high quality horses. MJM always puts the conditioning and welfare of its stable first and will not compromise on this. Each horse is given the best opportunity to fulfil its potential. When not in training the horses are spelled at one of our regularly used spelling farms in North East Victoria, or locally, on the Mornington Peninsula. MJM strives to provide its owners with regular updates on their horses, whether they be in training, spelling or pre training. Owners are welcome to come and view their horses by appointment.

Racing at Mornington today.

Race 3 - 2.30pm - Parera

The very handsome Rafa makes his racing debut today. He is a horse the stable has a high opinion of and we are excited to see how his racing career unfolds.

Although the 1000m will most likely be a bit short for Rafa, we will be wanting to see him hitting the line strongly and have a good raceday experience.

Happy new year racing at Mornington today!

Race 3 - 2.01pm - Sanbenito
Race 4 - 2.36pm - Surperb Frost

The team are hoping to kick off the new year on a winning note today.

Leo has been showing glimpses of finding form, closing off with the fastest last 200m in his last start after being slow away from the gates.
Today he has drawn well so if he can start better he should be able to put himself in a more forward position and give himself the chance to finish off well.

Rusty steps out for his first start today. To date, he has done everything the team has asked of him, winning 3 out of his 4 jumpouts.
The big unknown is how he will respond under raceday pressure. If he can handle it, he is very capable of putting in a good run.

We are very excited to see Elsa make her racing debut tonight. The team has always had a high opinion of her, and to date, her jumpouts have been up to our expectations.

The big unknowns are how she will handle the pressure of raceday and how she will handle the track if the rain continues.

Hopefully she takes it all in her stride and we see a good showing from her.

We are racing at Caulfield today.

Race 3 - 1.10pm - Bossy Benita

Betty makes her racing debut today off the back of some impressive jumpouts.

It's a big ask for a 2yo to step out in town first up, but we have liked what Betty has shown us to date, so she deserves her chance at metro level.

She's drawn well so we hope she can jump quickly, make the most of the good barrier and put herself in a forward position.

We are racing at Kyneton today.

Race 6 - 2.56pm - Bencouver

Brad has finally managed to draw a gate so hopefully he can make the most of it today!

The step up in distance will suit, so if Brad can mentally stay relaxed then he should be very competitive. He does have a habit of throwing races away so we will be holding our breath and crossing our fingers he doesn't misbehave and show some of the potential we know is in there.

MJM Racing is based at Mornington Racecourse (MRC), only 45 minutes from Melbourne. Mornington Racing Club is part of the Melbourne Racing Club, which also has Caulfield Racecourse and William Hill Park (Sandown) under its banner. Facilities include: stables / yards / pool / walker / high speed treadmill as well as all the MRC has to offer as a Tier 1 Training Centre. MRC offers weekly jumpouts (which are filmed and links can be provided) as well as course proper, inside grass, sand and synthetic tracks.
