🎆 New Year’s Eve is exciting for us… but not always for our dogs 🎆
As fireworks light up the sky tonight, many dogs will be feeling anxious, scared, or overwhelmed by the noise. A little preparation can make a big difference 💛
Our top tips to keep your dog safe and calm tonight:
🐶 Walk earlier – Get walks done before dusk when fireworks usually start.
🏠 Create a safe space – A quiet room, favourite bed, blankets, or even a crate can help them feel secure.
🔊 Muffle the noise – Close windows and doors, play calming music or turn the TV on to drown out the bangs.
🦴 Distraction helps – Long-lasting chews, puzzle toys, or a stuffed Kong can keep their mind busy.
🧘 Stay calm yourself – Dogs take cues from us. Reassurance is good, but try not to panic or over-fuss.
🚪 Secure your yard – Fireworks can cause dogs to bolt. Double-check gates, fences, and ID tags.
If your dog struggles badly with fireworks, chat to your vet ahead of time about calming options for future events.
From all of us at 4 Dogs Walking, we wish you and your four-legged family a safe, calm and happy New Year 🐕🎇
Here’s to many more walks together in the year ahead!
