Only had time for a quick ba****ck session today. With alllll of the boys watching. Including Gussy!

Tia tea cup was a gem.
It only took one small ground work clock exercise to gain her focus on me and away from all the boys and pram and we were riding.

10mins and we were done.
By using simple cues to communicate with her feet she gave her mind and from there on it was YES Lara Can DO! To every cue.

(My Ground work is never about flattening a horse.)

I don't remember the last time I cantered around on a 14h pony ba****ck but it was a lot of fun.

If you would like to breathe in too canter ... Start here :)

If you can't connect your energy to your horse's engine, then you will have a tough time keeping your horse in front of the leg.

I am loving having this little Tea cup Tia back on my program. Getting more willing to trust me and my language of cues every day.
This is our 2nd ride back together so we want to make sure our foundation CUEs are solid.

500 listens YAY!
thankyou thankyou thankyou to everyone who has and is supporting our podcast.

I have been wanting to create this for a long time, lots of messy journals, lots of lessons scribbled on napkins in coffee shops.
A few years ago I joined a club called toast masters, because I felt my speaking was not where it could be, Toastmasters helped my improve my skills but more importantly lifted my belief barriers and gave me the confidence to HIT RECORD!

I am having so much fun making each episode with Miranda Denny my star rider who helps me keep the pace and timing and pulls weird faces ever time the instruction requires more clarification. :P

I used to go to clinics and wonder why when we went to practice at home it was never quite the same. It took me a long time to realise that at the clinic my horses were getting the soak time they needed to relax and absorb the exercises and lessons.

Here is episode 14- Left left left, right right right - The first ridden Pattern I teach all horses and riders who come to us for training.
If there is one thing I wish for you to take home from this episode its " lift the nose, open the shoulder bend the rib and engage the hinds".
The value of the pattern is not in endless repetition, The value comes from riding each turn and each corner 1% more accurately and softer than the one before.
and if you happen to start dreaming about riding Left Left Left Right Right Right, GOOD MY JOB HERE IS DONE!

Ep. 13 - IS live !!!!! We focus on lifting our horses forward into trot, and forward into walk ensuring your transition is always positive.

Thankyou to everyone who has sent us feedback on some of the other episodes, we are so happy to hear that the pace is super helpful and that you are enjoying using the time with us to warm up and relax before your main focus of your training sessions.

Thankyou to everyone who made our Horsham clinic such a massive success.

So many highlights for me, but I have to say the stand out was watching people lift their own belief barriers on what they thought was possible for their horses and themselves.

Well done to all the trainers and riders :) make sure you all enjoy a little soak time, to lick and think. Can't wait to see you all next time. - LB

Episode 12 with more ridden exercises!!!!!!

I call these exercises PYRAMID exercises because they build up one cue at a time before retuning back down the cues the horse already knows. I find this is a great way to build a horse's confidence when learning to find answers to our questions.

However! - A pattern is only useful short term, once a horse builds his confidence it is important that we test our cues out of sequence... it is important our horse learns the "cue" not just the pattern. This early in season 2, I am very happy for you and your horses to gain confidence and stick to the PYRAMID pattern. :)

HAPPY TRAINING!!!!!!

Love this from our long time friend - Amber. Could not be more true!

Love this from our long time friend - Amber.

Could not be more true!

Out of routine and out of work, I nearly didn’t get up this morning when my alarm went off to ride Veludo.
“He’s only just come back into work, it doesn’t matter”
Motivation doesn’t always come naturally, for me it comes from routine and sense of achievement… so until that’s re established I need to rely on discipline… and boy am I glad I did.

This morning I had a great ride, but what does a great ride mean? For me that doesn’t mean an easy ride, actually it was the opposite, my horse is rehabbing, weak, unbalanced and unmotivated. His friends were in a new paddock and he was distracted, finding me nothing more than a early morning pain in the a**… but that’s why our ride was so good.

I had SO much to improve, work on and finish my ride feeling like I’d done more than just polish my aids, I improved my horse physically and mentally. I finished my ride feeling that sense of achievement I thrive off and consequently felt my routine falling back into place.

Moral of the ride, don’t believe a ‘good’ ride or a ‘bad’ ride depends on how perfect the movement is or how clean the transitions are, a good ride is anything that is 1% better in any way, for horse or rider. Those are the rides that make a team instead of a passenger and a vehicle.
