Meika morning training session.
We have been working on heel and sit outside of this session, to make sure we have a good level of understanding before we go into a world with more distractions.
Mika is very fearful of moving noisy vehicles.
If you watch a mother with her pup, she will never feed into panic and fear!
She will nonchalantly guide her pups with confidence. As any good role models should.
Fear is never something to be corrected.
As you can see from the video I am aware that she needs a bit more encouragement but I am very much focusing on her staying with me and a forward motion.
I'm not feeding in to the cars and the noises around me or her fear.
I'm simply saying 'hey don't worry about that, we're doing this, we're going this way and then we're going that way and we're just hanging out and chilling, I'm not scared you shouldn't be scared either.
As you can see I do a couple of gentle pops of the lead to encourage some more forward motion when she gets a bit stuck.
If a child was scared of loud moving cars would you
A) join in their fear with heaps of cuddles and 'okay it's okay I know it's scary I know it's scary.'
Or
B) 'I know you're feeling scared right now but trust me it's just noisy, it won't hurt you! Have you seen this thing over here let's go check it out! '
One response feeds into the fear the other acknowledges it, accepts it, Leeds by example and helps take the mind off of it.
She is currently too scared to accept toys or treats, once we have broken down this initial fear response, we will start adding treats toys and play near these scary things.
I will do another video in a couple of weeks and we can see how she's improved. 🥰💪🏼

We just got to witness this little lady becoming a mum 🥹
Never seen this before! Feeling very privileged. 😊 On our walk today we stumbled across what I thought was a sick lizard.
Our presence wasn't scaring her. 🤔 After closer inspection it was clear she was doing more than okay!
We decided to sit and keep watch while she went about her business. She laid a clutch of eggs and then gently covered them over. 🥰
Once she was done she ran in my direction 😯 jumped on to my knee and looked up at me, tilted her head and ran away.
I couldn't help the feeling she was thanking me. 🥰

Today was the FIRST time we took Humphrey's new commands outside. 🥰
We have been learning Between, Left & Right in the house the last couple of days. 🙀 It's always good to learn new Tricks in a neutral/ calm environment with no distractions. 💯
Going outside is levelling up!!! 📈⬆️
We have Tricks we're still getting confident with, we have smells for the little Boop nozzles and as you can hear a Neighbours doggie 🐾 in the background barking! These are all great distractions to work on focus. 🤓
Remember, 🤔 just because your Pupper knows how to do the tricks indoors/ behave indoors doesn't mean it's going to translate when you're out and about unless it's practised in different scenarios. 🍃 🎶⛳

If money started growing on trees, prisons become paradise 🌅and boundaries turned into door matts, where after you wiped your feet, you could enter through a door where the word no was lost and only yes remained. The world as we know it would turn to chaos. 🌪️
Now imagine a 3 year old child that has never been told no, 👎🏼 gets given everything for free, is cashed up without having ever worked a day in their life 👩🏼🔧 and is told they are a good boy/girl after just kicking little jimmy down the road in the shin. 🥺
They're either going to be the biggest D*** or the most lost scared/ anxious child ever!

We wouldn't parent like that so why do we parent our Puppers like this? 🤔
I believe it's because we feel good when we feel we are doing something good. (Giving treats, giving toys, comforting when a solid no is needed). It's all gratifying to us! 😳 Making us feel good! 🤗
But why are we feeding our feelings of what we feel is right! We forget what feeding the feeling we think our dog is feeling can do in creating behaviour problems that we feel have come from nowhere! 🤯
We forget that our little friends never mature past the mental age of 3. It's our job to teach them Do's and Don'ts, right from wrong and please and thankyous. Like you would a child.
