Blue Lake Vet Clinic has been owned by Dr Caroline Weston, Head Veterinarian and Julie Taylor, Head Veterinary Nurse, since 2012. We were lucky to move to our brand new building at 26 Ferrers Street, Mount Gambier in 2017 and have been making good use of our state of the art facility.

The clinic is home to a couple of permanent residents, You will often be greeted on the phone by our two resid

ent budgies, chirping in the background, Percy and Peter.

Lucille our clinic cat is famous across Mount Gambier, and is often sitting at reception or in warmer weather sunning herself on the veranda. Please follow her on instagram for updates on what she is up to at the clinic.

Our team of experienced Veterinarians bring over 50 years of combined experience to the clinic. Our knowledgeable nurses make the team and our clinic values a friendly and professional veterinary approach.

Here comes double trouble 🐈‍⬛ 🐾 🐈‍⬛

These two kitties are looking for their furever home. Whilst they aren’t from the same litter they have been in foster care for the last two weeks together, and have formed a strong bond- for this reason we would love to place them in a home together!

Cinder ( grey female)
This little girl has a big personality! She absolutely loves to be the centre of attention and is always up for a cuddle. Just don’t be late to feed her breakfast or she will climb up your legs!

Sprite ( black male)
Much more reserved than his big sister, Sprite prefers to watch his surroundings before making a plan about what to play with. Over time he has come out of his shell but every thing will always be on his time, so for this reason would suit a home with older children.

Whilst in foster care the kittens have had a dog in the house- Cinder is very open to this but Sprite is still unimpressed about having a canine friend. They may be best suited to a home with a quiet canine or as the stars of the show ⭐️

These guys are roughly 8 weeks old
Are using a litter tray well and have been flead & wormed.

This adventurous little kitten was found by a member of the public after he thought the engine bay of a car was a good hiding place 🫣
He is roughly 7/8 weeks old and full of life.
Gilbert is very brave and does not hesitate to investigate something that looks fun- including getting him self into tricky spaces, so be prepared for a constant game of “Where’s Gilbert”
He has enjoyed the company of his canine foster brother and would love a sibling to play with.

🐍🐾RYAH’S BRUSH WITH A SNAKE🐾🐍

This week we have had Ryah,
the gorgeous, fluffy, chow chow,
in clinic for a snakebite!

Luckily her pawrents were onto it and immediately called our afterhours number on Sunday Morning.
She was in clinic for 4 days for treatment, going home yesterday under strict instructions.

We loved her cuddles 🥰
A huge well-done to Dr. Harriet & Nurse Sarah for their intensive nursing and care on Sunday, and the rest of our staff for all the love and treatment for the few days she was in hospital 🏥

Lucille 🙈 Not sure Lucille is being very helpful while nurse Kate is busy on reception, but as per usual Lucille does as she pleases 😆🥰 🐾

IS YOUR CAT OR DOG DRINKING WATER EXCESSIVELY? This can be a sign of illness such as kidney disease, diabetes or an over active thyroid (plus a few others). These diseases can be diagnosed with a simple blood test that can be run in clinic so you will get results quickly. In turn treatment can be started to prolong the life of your pet. Lucille is a good example, we noticed a few years ago how much more water she was drinking then usual. A blood test to check how her organs were functioning and we found she had early renal (kidney) disease. This was caught early and we have been able to maintain her with a prescription diet. If you have noticed changes to your pets drinking or eating habits give the clinic a call to book in for a routine blood test or more information. 87239111 💧 🐈 🐕 💉
