Michele Ellertson, a true pioneer in the world of canine scent work, will be visiting New South Wales and Queensland this August for a series of exclusive scent work training clinics.

In today’s episode, Michele sits down with our own Peta Clarke to discuss all things scent work, with a focus on the exciting topics she will be covering during her visit. From building effective training plans to mastering the art of dog-driven searching, Michele’s clinics promise to offer invaluable insights and hands-on training opportunities.

We had an amazing time at our Motivational Dog Obedience Workshop featuring the incredible Louise Bayliss! 🐕✨

🚀 Building Drive and Motivation: Louise shared her expertise on enhancing our dogs' natural drives through positive reinforcement and structured training techniques.

🐾 Louise's Background:

Training Expertise: Over 20 years in ANKC Obedience, training dogs since 2000.
Accomplishments: Competes with Malinois, Rogue and Crazee. Rogue won High in Trial at the IGP National Championships in 2021!
Certifications: Cert IV in Companion Animals Training & Assessing.

Workshop Details:
Location: Canine Ed Academy
1783 Tourist Road Mount Murray NSW
Time: 9:30AM-4:30PM

This workshop is designed for any team competing or close to competing in Dog’s Australia (ANKC) Scent Work Trials at the novice and advanced levels.

Dogs will need to be comfortable waiting cars for their turn, be confident working in new indoor spaces and be able to do novice-level searches for any of the target odours used in competition (birch, anise, clove and cypress.)

Peta has worked as a professional animal trainer for almost 30 years. She has been involved in scent work for the past 10 years, competing with chihuahuas and a boxer. Go figure!

Peta is also a foundation Judge for the sport in Australia and a sought-after coach.

This workshop is designed for any team competing or close to competing in Dog’s Australia (ANKC) Scent Work Trials at the novice and advanced levels

There will be room for 12 teams in this full-day workshop which will cover:

3 practical sessions for each team
how to train for scent work comp
things dogs are learning in addition to odour!
handling suggestions
reward process choices
odour prep
how to add distractions, converging odour puzzles, inaccessible hides and all the “hard” stuff!
things to think about on trial day

Cost is $190 / dog and includes a free month to Peta’s online scent work coaching comunity to cement the work you do on the day!
