Short Term Clinic Closure!

Att valued clients and members of the community: we would like to advise you of an upcoming temporary closure of Greencross Vets Jindalee for maintenance work 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️

The clinic will be closed from Monday 7th October through to Sunday 13th October, returning to normal opening hours on Monday 14th October.

If you have a pet emergency during this period, please contact one of the other local Greencross clinics or alternatively one of the 24 hour emergency clinics 🩺

If your pet requires food or regular medication, pleasure ensure you have organised to have enough prior to the 1 week closure.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that this temporary closure may cause! 🐾

Flynn's Walk Brisbane 2024 💛

The teams from Greencross Vet Jindalee & Petbarn Jindalee joined to walk the 5km Flynn's Walk event in hour of Dr Flynn Hargreaves, to walk and talk about Veterinary Mental Health & Wellbeing.

It was a fun filled day in the sun with plenty of pooches 🐾

An interesting twist at the vet ✨️

Dr Kerry and Vet Nurse Jess are our patients. For a change, we became their patients in the form of our pup 😉

Dr Gilbert takes great care when cleaning teeth but he had his moment today just like many of us.
Dr Kerry reminded Dr Gilbert not to forget the back molars when cleaning the pup's teeth 😆
It was rather amusing 😄

Take home message, just get a professional to check your teeth whether you're a 2 or 4 legged patient 🤣

On a serious note, it was incredibly welcoming to walk into the clinic to see familiar faces. Both Kerry and Jess are very knowledgeable and caring. Patiently answering all of Shaleen's questions. Thank you so very much Dr Kerry & Jess 💙 🐕

We have exciting news!

Starting from July 22nd 2024 we will be amending our trading hours and will be open, consulting & taking calls from 7:30am instead of the current 8am start. This will be Monday to Friday only, Saturdays will remain 8am to 3pm 🐾

Chickens have some pretty clever ways of beating the winter chill, but they may still need your help. Like all birds, chickens use their feathers for insulation by fluffing them up and trapping the air. But for the times when nature is hard to predict, good pet care involves providing appropriate refuge.

❄️Insulation❄️
In cold parts of Australia, you could insulate your chicken coop with tree branches, cardboard, or straw. Care should be taken if hay or straw is used for insulation, as these can become infested with mold and vermin and carry chicken parasites. Also, remember to keep the insulation tidy. Keeping the coop clean and dry is essential as most bacteria, fungi, and parasites thrive in warm, moist environments.

☀️Warmer climates☀️
If you live in one of the warmer Australian states then you probably won’t need to install insulation in your chicken coop at all. Open, ventilated coops are more important. Learn more tips on coop setup on our website, or alternatively, visit your local Greencross Vets for expert advice.

Winter is here! We feel it's going to be a super cold one, and chances are if you are feeling cold your furry friend is too.

Here are some ways to keep your pet warm in the Winter:

💚Keep your pet inside
💚Provide a warm, soft, elevated bed
💚Warm coats are great for pets that are senior, small or have thin coats
💚Move your guinea pigs hutch inside the house or garage
💚Provide extra straw and hay so small pets can burrow and hide
💚Keep all bedding dry
💚Wrap a loose blanket over your pet, but don’t tuck them in. They still need to be able to move away from it if they overheat
💚Walk your furry friend during the day when it’s not as cold

At Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) Gosford, several beloved pets have tragically lost their lives due to severe tick paralysis. Dr. Natashia Evans, an Emergency and Critical Care Specialist at ARH Gosford, emphasises the importance of year-round parasite prevention, even as we transition into winter.

Skipping prevention can lead to devastating consequences.
Even a delay of just one or two days can put your pet at risk. Set reminders, and if in doubt, administer prevention a couple of days early.

Pet owners are urged to perform daily tick checks, as early detection can save lives.

💚 As winter sets in and the temperature drops, vets often see an increase in arthritis cases in both young and old animals. Sadly, the majority of these pets go undiagnosed and untreated as their owners don’t understand the reality of this condition. However, pets experience real pain with arthritis, comparable to the pain experienced by humans with this disease.

💚 Early detection and proactive treatment are essential to ensure your pet’s comfort and quality of life as they age.

Attention valued clients and members of the local community, we would like to advise that we are unable to accept stray animals (including kittens). This is due to the health and safety risks to our patients and staff, risk to the animals themselves, minimal cage space and potential legal ramifications around stray management.

We are always happy to have stray animals presented to us for microchip scanning, however we are unable to house them if they do not have a microchip. We will try our best to assist you in finding a place for you to take these animals, if required.

We understand that as members of the community you are trying your best to assist these animals to the best of your ability and do the right thing. Please try contacting the local council, RSPCA or Animal Welfare League for assistance and advice.
