7 FAB bulls being sold by Parawanga at Central Queensland Livestock Exchange - CQLX in February include Parawanga Manumbar 1287 (HP) aged two in the photo. He is a scurred son of Parawanga Waverley, the sire of Parawanga Watego. Manumbar shows the same smooth, thick muscle and correctness of conformation along with a quiet and carefree nature, good bone, legs and feet and good underneath.

KENMAY had 51 mm of rain on Saturday morning, and Minlacowie Baxter(PH) is now out with our stud herd. His dam is by Mt Callan Ni**od (sire of Minlacowie Vinnie) over a Billabong Nebo daughter. His sire is Minlacowie Weston(PP), a well credentialled D5 droughtmaster bull.
Baxter has plenty of scale and content, of course, traits that we are always chasing, but also the rich red coat and strong polled head that a lot of our bull buyers appreciate. He excels in the scrotal department too.

PP polled and 24 months old, Parawanga 1317 is nominated for the FAB sale with 6 other two year old Parawanga bulls. He is a son of Calaanah Eggnog, with rich red coat, quiet nature, and strong head. He was very popular at the open day and had a sale arranged, but it fell through when the buyer had season trouble.

One year today since our fire, and we have had 24 mm of rain in a storm last Thursday, so things are more hopeful at present. All fences are back up now too.

SKIN. It's very important for droughtmasters to have a sleek tropical coat with a long and pointed ear. We have no dead animals in the paddock with a huge eye muscle and short hairy ears because we do not breed that type. Our herd went through the past 12 months since the fire with no treatments at all while we rebuilt. No pour ons. No fly tags. Zero. They calve miles away in the bush with no assistance and they protect the calves from predators. Both these heifers are just 12 months old now, first season daughters of Minlacowie Zanzibar. We have 25 just like this. Three will be offered at auction early in 2025, and we use the rest in our stud herd. More info coming.

Parawanga Downunder was a very successful show bull for us 20 years ago, with grand champion at Gympie and Roma, and junior champion of the Queensland show at the Ekka.

Parawanga stud heifers looking great right now. We have selected for a certain type within the droughtmaster breed for the past 34 years, the type that suits our coastal CQ climate, pastures and tick, fly and dog problems, thriving and reproducing without supervision, true low maintenance designer cattle. We have not followed fads or been in any way distracted from our path, using many sires from Billabong, Calaanah and Minlacowie studs, as well as some Cungelella, Bryvonlea, Imbil, Red Hill, Aldinga and home bred bulls too. Minlacowie Zanzibar was a bargain purchase at the 2022 CQ Invitational Bull sale for just $18,000. We are really happy with the calves. Here are some of the super stylish females. I had to try twice to get photos because they kept coming up to the camera for a pat. All of them.
So, if you want a really top bull the CQ sale at CQLX on Monday 21st is the place to go.

He shows tremendous depth of muscle through the flank and down into the hindquater as well as thickness right along the top. He weighs around 800 kg, has a scrotal circ of 36 cm, motility 72%, testicular tone 4/5. The 9 year old dam, by Palmyra King Solomon, has had 7 calves. This bull is extra quiet and happy-go-lucky, aa very special droughtmaster bull which has impressed a number of top judges. Here is a pen of 27 stud heifers that I looked over yesterday, trying to find any that were not up to the high standard of excellence and type we require in our stud herd. I could not find even one, the first time ever in 34 years that I have decided to use 100% of a calf drop. Nearly any one of them could be a sale topper. These are a few paddock photos.
