Equine Sanctuary for Neglected, Abandoned & Abused Horses. WINDAMERE HORSE HAVEN Association Inc is a horse rescue charity which was established in 2013.

Its aim is to help save abused, neglected and abandoned horses and to try and give them a second chance at life through rehabilitation and re-education in a caring environment, with a view to rehoming to a forever home. As part of their rehabilitation and care, Windamere horses are provided with individualised supplementary feeding, and farrier, dental and routine vet care and also equine massage/

bodywork as needed. Once we have helped a horse recover to full health and it has undergone a retraining program with our horse trainer, we will try and find a suitable adoptive home. We attempt to match horse and prospective owners and offer ongoing support. Windamere Horse Haven is mainly funded by donations or ongoing sponsorship which can be for as little as $10 per week. Individual donations/sponsorship as well as those from businesses are very much appreciated. Even having a donation box on a sales counter can help fund the horses in our care. Sponsors will receive a letter of introduction to Windamere as well as regular periodic newsletters. Donations and sponsorship over $2.00 is tax deductable. 3 weeks in - Honey is starting to look better and beginning to fill out.

Yesterday she had a body work session with Equine Bodywork and Training to unlock some tight muscles and joints.

We will be at the WPCS car boot sale on Sunday July 6th 9.30am - 1.30pm with lots of quality rugs tack and other horse items available.

Lenny has been adopted!

He’s gone to live his best life as a mate to Tony another lovely thoroughbred gelding.

Our little girl Candy was featured on our vets Facebook this week with the removal of a salivary stone.

She is recovering well and we look forward to a lump free pony!

Honey had a big week this week with vet and farrier appointments.

On Wednesday she had a full health check with blood taken for testing and dental float by Dr Dan at Equus Veterinary Services

Today she had the farrier to trim her hooves, she was very good with everything despite it all being new people.

She has gained some weight in the past week which is good to see.

Today we welcomed Honey into care at Windamere

She is a 17yo thoroughbred mare who needs a lot of tlc. She will see the vet and farrier soon to start her rehabilitation.

Thank you to the agistment owner and her owner who have sought to get her the care she needs to try to return to health.

Dental day today with 6 horses having their teeth done by Equus Veterinary Services.

With many older horses in care, they need ongoing dental care to ensure their aging teeth are maintained and issues like worn, missing or fractured teeth are addressed.

We had rain!

Yesterday morning the dam was a dried up cracked bed. Now the resident ducks are back in occupancy.

The drought is nowhere near over but it’s great to have a break from the dust
