👂 what was that? I can’t quite hear you 👂
Little Scout came in to see Dr Nikki today after his owner noticed he had a very sore ear!

Dr Nikki and Nurses Izzy & Aquis sedated Scout and placed a special camera in to see what was going on!
To our shock, we discovered a little bug had made himself at home in scouts ear 🐜

Scout has now had the pesky invader flushed away and is home resting with some medication! We wish scout a speedy recovery to get back to being a puppy 🐶

We are so excited to host a clinic fundraiser to help support Bunnies Of The Burrow 🐰

Friday the 22nd we will be offering pet Easter photos at the clinic for a $10 fee 😍
All pets are welcome but MUST be on a lead!

We also have a raffle with tickets available to be purchased at reception from Monday - and Nurse Leah has made some bandanas for $3 also ❤️🐰

All money raised will go to the rescue 💰

Today we farewelled Dr Alice who goes on maternity leave until 2025!

We wish Alice a safe arrival in 3-4 weeks time, lots of sleep and the joys of motherhood ahead! 💕😊🙌💕

❤️ MICKEY ❤️

Dear Mr Mickey was admitted into hospital last week by Dr Hannah after he had some trouble urinating!

Did you know that Dalmatian’s have a gene defect that cause elevated levels of uric acid, which cause crystals to form in their urine! If left untreated it can cause blockages of the urethra 😔

Lucky for Mickey, Dr Nikki and Dr Danni were able to pass a urinary catheter under general anaesthetic and flush his bladder out! 👏

After a short stay in hospital, Mickey was able to have the catheter removed and go home on a very strict diet to help ensure no more crystal form ✨

Poor Peppa came in tonight with very swollen lips, eyes and face! She had been playing in the garden where we suspect she was stung by an insect! 🦟🐜🐝😩

Thankfully a trip to the vet for some antihistamines and steroids should help her feel better soon! 😊🙌💕

🦆 little duck 🦆

Little duck popped in today to see Dr Nikki after their owner was concerned they might have a broken leg 🦴
Upon further inspection, it turns out little duck has damaged and torn some of the ligaments in his leg and foot 😓

Dr Nikki and nurse Jacqui made a little splint for little duck, to hopefully help the ligaments heal so they can finally waddle around with the bigger ducks 🦆

Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus or GDV

GDV is a life threatening condition where the stomach first fills with gas before rotating on itself causing both the entry and exit points to become blocked.
Miss Rosie was rushed into the clinic late Tuesday after her owner noticed her bloating, retching and not herself!
Thanks to a quick thinking mum, Dr Sally-Anne and Nurse Tiffany were able to get straight into surgery 😥

48 hours later and Rosie is finally going home 🥰

GDV can be seen in almost any breed but is much more common in large deep chested dogs such as Great Danes, Rottweilers, German shepherds and Weimaraners 🐶

Things you can do to limit a GDV
✅ no strenuous exercise or play 30 mins prior or 30 mins after eating
✅ slow feeder bowls
✅ elevated eating surfaces
✅ limit water intake directly after eating (don’t let them drink lots after eating)

Handsome Beau came in last week for a checkup! He is a standard dachshund who loves liver treats, playing with his canine brothers and letting the world know how excited he is! 💕🙌😊

Beautiful Bella came in for her stitches out today, 2 weeks after having life saving pyometra surgery.

Pyometra is an infection of the uterus, and Bella’s uterus was full of pus, threatening to rupture at any time.

Diagnosed by Dr Angela, Bella had surgery with Dr Sally-Anne to remove both her ovaries and the infected uterus.

We’re so happy that she has made a full recovery! Pyometra can occur in any undesexed female dog. If your dog is over 6 years of age and not desexed we strongly recommend booking her in as soon as possible! 💕🙌👍

Harriet is a 4 year old golden retriever who hs elbow dysplasia and early onset arthritis. She has also already ruptured one of her cruciate ligaments and has had a TTA surgery to fix this.

Thankfully though, not much can wipe this smile off her face! 💕🐾😊 Harriet has been having monthly Beransa injections and other arthritis medications to help her move pain free, and we are so happy that she is able to play, run and jump again! 🐕🐾💕😊🙌

Yesterdy we bid 4th year Charles Sturt Uni vet student Sarah farewell after her 3 week rotation! Sarah has shadowed our vets in surgery, dentistry, radiology and consulting. Thank you Sarah for all your help! 🙌

***Watch for Wildlife this Summer*** ☀️🚗☠️😢

Today a member of the public brought this young male devil in - found along Faraday St in Ravenswood. It was still alive and had a fractured spine. We suspect it had been hit by a car while eating roadkill. We euthanised it as its injuries were too severe. 🐾🌈😢

Please take care this summer as wildlife close to towns and cities is at risk of being hurt. Especially as the hot weather encourages them to move for food and water. It is heartbreaking having to euthanise an endangered animal that was young and in good condition. 😢😔

If you do find injured wildlife please call Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary on 0447264625, especially for animals that could harm you such as Devils, Platypus and birds of prey.

The devil’s body will be taken to the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery in case it can be used for teaching purposes.
