EMILY 🌿 Vet nurse

It’s the gorgeous Emily’s time to shine joining the MVH team in August this year; making her our ‘newest’ team member!

Emily joined our Vet Nursing team with a dynamic 10 years of nursing experience having left the Big Smoke behind and relocating from Sydney to Gulgong which she now calls home.

As well as her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing, Emily also holds certificates in orthopedics, wound care and both emergency and critical care nursing.

In her free time Emily likes to go hiking, travel to new places and spending time with her family and friends.

Welcome Emily, you really are already a much- loved and valuable addition to the MVH Team!!⭐️🌿

ELLA 🌿 Trainee Vet Nurse

It’s time to meet Ella, our youngest team member who joined us in 2021 for school-based work experience and was such a great fit she formally joined the MVH team in Febuary 2022 as a trainee.

Blessed with oodles of compassion and patience we can vouch that Ella cares for our patients just like she does here with *Teddy (pictured).

Ella has now completed her Cert II in Animal Studies and is currently completing her Cert IV in Vet Nursing.

Ella enjoys working with small and large animals with a special interest in helping care for hospitilised and emergency cases.

Outside of the clinic Ella enjoys playing with her cavoodle puppy Teddy, camping, shopping and spending time with friends.

🌿 LEPTOSPIROSIS vaccine
🌿 FIV (cats) vaccine
🌿 C5 (Parvovirus/kennel cough) vaccine

Currently we are experiencing a ‘nation wide’ shortage on both Leptospirosis & FIV vaccines.

We do not have an exact date of return supply but are hoping in the first few months of 2024.

Leptospirosis virus is fortunately not commonly diagnosed here in our Mudgee region (it seems to be more prevalent in densely populated areas where rats live in close proximity).

FIV virus is much more prevalent and we diagnose many many cases. If you can, keep your cats indoors whenever possible and out of fights until vaccines are back in supply.

Please let our reception know to put you on a wait list for when stock comes back in supply.

Our usual C5 (Parvovirus/kennel cough) vaccine for puppies and adults are in usual supply, so please make sure you are up to date with your yearly vaccination.

KELLIE 🌿 Customer Service

It’s time to meet one of our ‘newest’ team members; Kellie.

Our super-experienced Kellie is the face and voice who will greet you on the phone and/or on coming into MVH.

After moving back from Canada, Kellie started her new adventure with Mudgee Vet Hospital in 2023. With a Bachelor Degree in Animal Science and over 10 years in the animal industry, Kellie has a passion for pets and people!

Outside of work, Kellie likes to horse ride and spend time with family and friends. Her dog Blitz is usually along for the ride!

A huge heartfelt welcome to you Kellie, we feel so lucky to have you on board here at MVH!

🌿 Snake bite - What to do’s 🌿

✅ Keep your pet calm and quiet and take to a vet immediately if you suspect it has been bitten (and if possible carry to reduce movement).

✅ Call ahead so we can prepare for your arrival 📞 6372 2105

✅ Keep an eye on some of the following signs;
- lethargy
- vomitting
- collapsing or weakness
- excessive salivation
- dilated pupils
- muscle shaking

✅ Stay vigilant during snake season. Often the actual bite is not visible.

📸 🐶 A throwback to adrenaline ju**ie “Missy Higgins” (Jack Russell). She had a successful escape here and did live on to find plenty more!!

🌿TICK PARALYSIS🌿

☀️ 🌊 It’s time for some “Slip Slop Slap” and remember preventative treatment for ticks for your pet while on holiday at the coast 🏄‍♂️

Ticks can be found in bushy coastal areas along the eastern seaboard of Australia, from north Queensland to eastern Victoria.

If ticks attach to your dog/cat it will cause a progressive paralysis which can lead to death.

Come in and get organised with preventatives. These include chewable tablets, “spot ons” and vet recommended collars which will stop/kill the tick, prevent the disease and keep your pets safe!

Today is World Vet Nurse Day and it’s our chance to celebrate the dedication, hard work and passion of our multi-tasking and incredibly talented nurses here at 💚💚🦴🩺

Thank you “Nursing Team” for all your amazing work!!!

It is incredible to see the love you have for our patients and what you give to the job!

From extra patient cuddles (and kisses) coming out of anesthesia to making sure each fur baby is comfortable and safe, you always go the extra mile in often back breaking work and in emotionally charged situations.

It takes a strong stomach at times too and we want to thank you for absolutely everything you do! ⭐️

Within the last 7 days we have had multiple animals present to Mudgee Vet Hospital with suspected snake bites - both Brown and Red Belly Black Snakes.

Please take extra precaution to prevent snakes in your yard.

If you suspect that your pet has been bitten or has come in contact with a snake please present to the clinic immediately. Signs will not always show straight away.

RANDLAB EQUINE GASTROSCOPING DAY!
This Friday 7th July at Mudgee Vet Hospital.

EQUINE DENTISTRY 🐴

Dr Jack Holman performed dentals on his own horse’s last weekend. A routine dental should be performed on horses every 12 months. Sedation is of vital importance to allow for safe and thorough examination of the entire oral cavity and to float the teeth correctly.
