The sheep are much more relaxed after working with Guinan(2 years GSD) only after a few days on the 4-sided border. To the point where the sheep drifted out however Guinan's nature instinct pushed them back into the graze while holding a "super strong" border. ❤️🤠🐾🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑

Welcome back to another year of Sheep herding at DogLand.
Please see below some dates to save into your Calendar for up-and-coming Events.
Below dates maybe subject to change due to Sheep Herding Clinics and weather.

Sat 3rd May and Sun 4th May 2024 – FULLY BOOKED OUT.

Private Hourly Lessons
Hourly private lesson from 18th Jan 2025 to 21th Sep 2025.
Hourly private lessons by appointments only.
COST - $60

WEEKDAYS – Monday to Friday 4pm onwards.
Early mornings are also available.

WEEKENDS - Limited Weekends
First lesson starts at 8.00am and last lesson at 10am.

These training days are limited, so pre bookings and payments are Essential.

"DogLand" Training days

European Styles of Dogs - Beginner/Test Levels – 2 Days per month
Maximum of 4 Handlers.
Cost $70 per Handler per day.
Gates only open at 8am.
Starts at 8.30am until 2.00 pm on both Sat & Sun.
Morning Tea including a drink is provided. (Please advised if you have any dietary requirements).
These training days are limited, so pre bookings and payments are Essential.
MARCH – 1st Sat or 2nd Sun.
APRIL - 5th Sat or 6th Sun.
MAY - 10th Sat or 11th Sun.
JUNE - 7th Sat or 8th Sun.
JULY - 5th Sat or 6th Sun.
AUGUST - 23rd Sat or 24th Sun.
SEPTEMBER - 6th Sat or 7th Sun.

Australian Style of dogs – Beginner/Test Levels– 2 Days per month
This is for Border Collies, Kelpies, Koolie etc. style of dogs only.

Want time on Sheep for Ewe and a Mate - Trial Levels Only.
From 18TH Jan 2025 to 28th Sep 2025Trail Levels only.
Weekends or mid-week mornings are also available for time on sheep.
Full facilities are available plus Sheep are sorted and left in the stockyards on your arrival.
Cost $60 per Handler.

WORKSHOPS - Nicky Wright - Animal Behaviour Consultant
Again, we are lucky to have Nicky from Nicky Wright - Animal Behaviour Consultant to be running two, 2-day workshops.
This year Nicky will be running another 2-day scent training workshop. Also this year we will be introducing a 2 day workshop for basic foundation protection dog sports training.

General Information

Payments -
Training positions are limited, so pre bookings and payments are Essential. Refunds are available only if your position has been filled prior to the commencement of the training day.

All dogs need to be wormed and fully vaccinated and we will require vaccination paperwork.

Dogs – Dogs will just need a flat collar & lead and for Club days, somewhere they can be put away quietly i.e crate, short lead etc. with your water bowl.

For yourself - you will just need covered in shoes to work with the flock, a hat & bring a chair.

Cold water, soft drinks and tea/coffee can all be purchased.

Before training begins, I have 2 safe secure off leash dog areas to run the dogs.
After training I have a lovely huge dam and dogs are more than welcome to go for a swim.

It's been 8 days since the attack, so after giving the boys/sheep some recovery time, today I went sheep herding with Guinan(2yrs GSD). The boys we're still a bit flighty however Guinan held her border well, so they we're able to become calm and settled.
So super proud of my sheep and my sheep dog. ❤️🐾🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑

Another bloody Dog attack yesterday.
Pop was so badly mourn, he was needed to be put down. Knuckles leg was badly bitten but been give antibiotics. Got to the dog attacked while it was happening, so it could have been a lot worse for my poor sheep.
So if anybody red and white border collie with a black collar came home last night with blood all over it, you now know why.

What a super fun way to end this years Group Australian style sheep herding. All the handlers had a few warms up goes with obstacles. Then we broke into Teams and in the large paddock they had to do a cast, pass through 2 gates, then Y Shute and finish off by putting the sheep through 2 sets of gates. Congratulations to Ziggy and Bonnie who did a beautiful smooth run. Also Hades and Moz who had an amazing Y Shute run.

What a lovey way to end the European style sheep herding for this year.
Ben's beautiful girl Ella, was doing super work on the 3 sided graze. Rachel's big boy Dojo was amazing all weekend on his road work & Kari started to hold her border.
Chris's girl Aja was her energetic herself & lovely to watch. However her boy Vice (Dojo & Aja offspring) blow us away over the weekend with his natural talent.

Now taking bookings for the next class at DogLand Australia : Progressing Scent Work Training.

This is designed as a follow on from the last two classes at DogLand, however it is ideal for anyone at any stage of their scent work journey.

This will be focusing on some simple training habits to reduce frustration (and false alerts), improving accuracy and giving your dog a set of behaviours to show you where the odour is ... or isn't.

The most improved dog today definitely was Ziggy, she was so focus, Super work Danielle.
The most improved handers skills has to be Marika, using her body language & working WITH her dogs natural abilities, so lovely to watch.
The baby of our group today was sweet Kesley at 7 months. Already show her abilities and her potential all with such a beautiful nature, very nice work Tamara.
Then we had our A-Team with Bonny and Jack... Always a pleasure to watch.
Congratulations to everyone today. 🥳🐑🐑🐑🐾
