When you hop on a horse 🐎 for the first time you might be thinking “𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴”? 🛴 Steering a horse is 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, but the ways you do so might 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂. 🤯

𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱 𝟭: 𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘀
Reins are like the handlebars of a bike. Use the rein on the side you want to go to show the direction, and loosen the rein on the other side to help guide the turn smoothly.

𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱 𝟮: 𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝘀
Gently press your leg on the side opposite to where you want to go—this encourages the horse to move in the direction away from your leg through the use of pressure.

𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱 𝟯: 𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴
Shift your weight slightly in the direction you want to go.... but not so much that you lose your balance.😆
Looking in the direction you want to go, with your shoulders as well as your head, will often shift your weight enough.

This weekend, some of our students said their goodbyes before they head off for the Summer holidays.

As you can see, our students love our horses and have formed a real bond with them.

It was great to see a mother and daughter compete at our Christmas game which was created by our Head Coach, Steph. These two have made huge progress in the 10 lessons they have had with us. Claire has not been back in the saddle for a LONG time and her daughter, never till now.

As the term draws to an end and TKC’s first academic year, we have started to present our students with their reports and gifts.

The first is the lovely Xanthia! We are so proud of the progress she has made.
