Henry had his two little testicles (plums, as we call them) removed last week.
He loved his cuddles from Nurse Bonnie.
He looked chilled and high as a kite when ready to go home.

At Pet Medical, we firmly believe in providing pain relief for our patients.
Pain relief for our pets after surgery is crucial because it allows them to

We want to thank all our wonderful clients for keeping their pets' vaccinations current.

These dogs enjoyed the cream cheese to distract them from the vaccination, while some slept through it. 🥰
As always, there were plenty of snuggles and cuddles from our team.

💉 Vaccinations protect your pet from transmissible diseases in both boarding facilities and the local community when they are out and about.
💉 Vaccinations are substantially less expensive than the cost of treatment for the diseases they protect against.
🚩If your pet is overdue or it is their first time getting a vaccine, your vet may recommend a booster vaccine or an annual schedule to protect your pet.

Pet Medical sends reminder text messages when your pet is next due for vaccinations, heartworm, Flea, Tick and worming treatments.

Meet Mini, a 6-week-old Shiba Inu 🥰
Mini came in for her 6-week vaccination recently, and what a difference 6 weeks makes when you are a growing puppy.

The Shiba Inu is an ancient dog breed that originated in Japan. It was bred to hunt birds and small game.
But these days, they can be found lounging on the sofa instead of hunting.

🐕Shibas are high-energy and very intelligent, so they require lots of mental stimulation and exercise.

🐕Shiba dogs are bold and fiery and make great family pets for experienced pet parents.

We look forward to seeing more photos of Mini as she grows.

Meet our Team Member Pet of the Week is......... Charlie the Blue Tongue Lizard, owned by our fabulous nurse Mel.

🦎 Charlie is 5 months old.
🦎 Mel purchased Charlie from a breeder.
🦎 Yes, you do need a licence to keep an Australian reptile.
🦎 Mel is not sure whether Charlie is a girl or a boy.
🦎 Male blue-tongues have proportionally larger heads and stockier bodies than females, but females
grow slightly more prominent than males.
🦎 Charlie's favorite foods are strawberries, raw eggs, crickets and Royal Canin dog food.

Every week, we will be showcasing our team members' pets.
Meet Juice, Big Man, or Juicy Fruit, which the team sometimes calls him when he comes for his allergy vaccinations.
Juice is owned by Kelly, our marketing and media team member. (photo taken by me /Kelly)

Juice facts:
🐶 He is a 4.5-year-old Bull Arab weighing in at a hefty 60kgs.
🐶 Juice is allergic to almost everything except for penicillin.
🐶 Never chased a pig; he's a lover, not a fighter.
🐶 Juice is not the average size for a bull arab. Juice's great, great, great grandparent was a Great Dane
hence his massive size.

Because of Juice's large size, he will be considered a senior pet at the age of 5, whereas smaller to medium dogs are considered seniors from the age of seven.

Stay tuned for next week's team pet post.

🌟 Farewell to Pet Medical Boarding 🌟

After more than 10 wonderful years of providing pet boarding at Pet Medical, it’s time to say farewell to this chapter. 😢😿
We want to thank all our amazing clients who have trusted us to care for their furred and feathered family members - your pet’s home away from home. 🏚️
Many of these cherished guests have become like family; we have loved every moment spent with them.

A special shoutout to our incredible Pet Medical team, whose dedication, love, and care made our boarding service truly special.
And to the amazing team who have been the backbone of it all - Bec A, Hallee, Em, Zoe and Lauren - thank you for your hard work, compassion, and commitment to ensuring every pet felt safe and loved.

Though our boarding services are coming to an end, Pet Medical will continue to provide the same exceptional care and day-to-day services for your beloved pets. We look forward to seeing you and your furry friends in the clinic! ❤️🐾

These 3 beautiful girls are unfortunately looking for a new home/s. Sometimes life doesn’t work out how you planned which we understand, and sometimes the right thing for your pets is to find them a new loving family which is what we are hoping for for these girls.
Willow and Lilly are a bonded pair and ideally would love them to be adopted together.
Eva gets on well with the others but is more confident and independent so would be ok to separate. These girls have been very loved and if you think you home could provide a loving home for some beautiful adult cats please get in touch with is.
All vet work done.

Donatello's Story 🐢
Donatello, the short-necked turtle, was recently transferred to our Muswellbrook clinic by a local wildlife group as he had swallowed a fishing hook.

Donatello underwent a short anaesthetic, and the team could remove the fishing hook safely.
He was then transferred back to the incredible wildlife group, which will continue Donatello's rehabilitation before being released into the wild.

🚩Fishing hooks and lines are dangerous for our wildlife. 🪝🪝
🚩You can help by fishing in designated fishing spots 🎣
🚩Dispose of your fish hooks, lines and waste responsibly 🗑️

If you encounter injured wildlife, please bring them to Pet Medical or call WIRES for assistance.

It took a village of four to find a tick on this long-haired dog.

🚧 Reminder - due to the humid weather, we see more paralysis ticks in our area.
They are pesty creatures can be found in long grasses, beaches, and rivers.
If you are venturing out with your pet for summer fun, please remember your tick prevention for your beloved animal.

How to check for a tick-
To search your pet for ticks, simply run your fingers through their fur, starting at the nose and including the face, neck, ears and front leg areas where ticks are most likely to attach, then working towards the tail. Make sure to take off your pet's collar before you start searching, as ticks can hide underneath the collar.

Signs to watch for if your pet might have a tick
🚩Skin inflammation: Redness and swelling around the bite site
🚩Joint swelling: Swelling around the joints, especially in the leg closest to the bite
🚩Lameness: Difficulty walking due to joint inflammation
🚩Vomiting and diarrhea
🚩Shortness of breath: Labored breathing or rapid breathing

Please call your vet if you think your pet has a tick.
