With a tinge of sadness, but an overwhelming sense of pride, we announce the retirement of our champion, Just Believe. We could list the races he won, or the money he earned, but it was the hearts he captured around the world that really set Harry apart. His incredible strength and determination to win were second to none and we couldn’t be more grateful for the journey he has taken us on. A huge thank you to all of Harry’s owners for the opportunity they gave us with this incredible horse. In the end it was Harry’s refusal to give up that has brought about his retirement, with us no longer able to trust him to tell us when things were getting sore. He has nothing left to prove and his welfare remains paramount. Happy retirement Harry. We’re sure going to miss you around the barn.

Absolutely thrilled to get a win with CARRY ON CORNISH (The Storm Inside - Melpark Alexa) tonight. Nothing makes us more nervous than when friends or family want to get involved so for Ellie to win tonight in the Hyland Harness Colours Maiden was a massive relief for us all! When a win is more than a win. On Thursday our world fell apart as we were forced to say a shock goodbye to our beloved boy Toby. We’ve never known life at Larajay without Toby and we are missing him incredibly already. So for Lenny to step up and win at Melton last night and smash his PB really made us think he must have had some angel wings helping him home. Yes our business is harness racing, but what it’s really about is our Larajay family, no matter how many legs they may walk on. Thank you to everyone who has supported us through the last few days, especially our amazing staff who always step up when we need them.

It’s been quite the year at Larajay. We set off on a mission and whilst it’s been a successful year, it’s also been a tough one. Success doesn’t come without hard work & sacrifice and we’ve certainly felt that this year. Highlights included The Dominion, Auckland Cup, Queen Of The Pacific, NZ TAB Trot, Breeders Crown, National Trot, Grand Prix & The Beautide. We close out the year proud of what we’ve achieved, extremely grateful for those who have supported us, and determined to inject a bit more fun into life next year.

Thank you so much to the team at Purdon Racing in Christchurch for allowing our boys to stay with them & making sure they were so well taken care of during their visit. We look forward to returning the favour when you’re next in Melbourne. A bit of a disappointing update to share, but we’ve decided to call time on Harry’s NZ campaign. Our main man will be heading home next week along with his buddy Ronald so we can properly assess a few issues that he is currently dealing with. Harry’s welfare will always be paramount and a rest is what the Dr has ordered for now. He’s loved his time in NZ and his Dominion win is one we will never forget! Hes From Heaven will run in the Derby before flying home with Harry early next week and Better Eclipse will remain in NZ and push towards the Auckland Cup as planned. Thanks to everyone for their support of our team as always.

How fitting that King won a Crown!
ENCHAUFFOUR (Volstead - Dream Island) was brilliant in winning the Betavet Breeders Crown for 2YO C&G last night. Congrats to breeder & owner Pat Driscoll. Your impact on the Australian trotting landscape through your bloodlines has been immense, so it’s a well-deserved victory. Thanks to Herbie for another great drive too, and a special mention to Craig for doing the driving honours at home while Greg has been away.

Rebel didn’t have time to pose for photos this morning - she had more important business to attend to! Friday night saw the team venture to Geelong where RAKERO REBEL broke through for a well-deserved win in the Hoyts Food FFA. She’s now won 11 from 41 and over $240k #regumare

Big day at Larajay today with Christian having his first proper drive - fittingly aboard the people’s champ Lenny! Christian started about 6 months ago with zero harness knowledge and has picked it all up brilliantly - remembering the gear better than the rest of us a lot of the time! He’s a massive asset to our team and we love having him around. He even curated a Larajay playlist for us to enjoy on Spotify while we work the kids. Oh and ladies he’s single and ready to mingle so don’t be shy about sliding into his DMs. 😉😉
