✨The most amazing and lucky cat of 2024✨
‘Kitty cat’ presented to our clinic as the owner had noticed a hard lump appear under her chest. Her initial assessment absolutely shocked our team as the hard lump actually wobbled. It wobbled with the rhythm of her heart beat! ♥️ X-rays were carefully taken and it appeared that the foreign plant like material was actually deep enough into her chest it was just touching her heart-which was making it wobble.
After in-depth discussion Kitty cat was put under full anaesthetic with guarded prognosis.
Amazingly Dr. Claire was able to remove the splinter like material without causing further damage! Her anaesthetic and recovery was closely monitored by Nurse Amber and she was able to go home the following day 🙌🏼

We still don’t know exactly what plant the material is from-if anyone knows please comment!🧐

Yesterday her wonderful owners brought her in for a recheck and she has made a full recovery!
Our team LOVE lucky Miss Kitty Cat and we are glad she is back home-with maybe one or two less cat lives 🩷🐈🩺🍀

Have you considered 4CYTE™ for your pet?
This is one of our go to supplements to help combat Osteoarthritis!
Available at our clinics, 4CYTE™ is a supplement that can be purchased over the counter without a vet consult.

If you have noticed your pet slowing down over these wintery weeks you might like to give 4CYTE™ a try. By simply adding into your cat or dog's food once a day can support, protect and restore healthy joints.
4CYTE™ is currently the only joint supplement to contain Epiitalis which is a plant seed oil. This plant seed oil is patented for its ability to repair cartilage and pain relieving properties. Green lipped mussel, Abalone and Marine cartilage are all well known for their ability to improve joint health.
Speak to our friendly nursing team for more info.

💛 Daisy presented to our Naracoorte clinic a few weeks ago after eating her brother's sock🧦 Daisy's Mum caught her in the act and rushed her down to the clinic where Dr Bree and Nurse Amber made her vomit the sock up straight away. Daisy's owners' quick thinking to bring her straight to our clinic allowed our team to induce vomiting and prevent any blockages or the need for surgical removal.
As you can see, Daisy felt a bit sorry for herself after the sock came back up, but she soon felt better after an injection of anti-nausea and was able to go home within the hour!🙌
Luckily for Daisy and her mum, they had signed up for pet insurance just weeks earlier as this isn't the first time cheeky Daisy has pinched something she shouldn't have! 🫣

A great experience for our Nurse team to gain the skills and provide a blood transfusion to sick patients ♥️ 🩸
The patient who received this blood is recovering well at home currently 🙌🏼
This is about the only time Steve sits still while sedated 🫣 (Claire’s dog) 🐶😅

🤍 A Surgical Story of Precious Hazel 🤍
Hazel presented to our clinic after vomiting up toy remnants at home. Once Hazel arrived, Dr Claire took radiographs which confirmed a foreign body in Hazel's small intestine. This indicated the need for life saving emergency exploratory laparotomy (or in nursing terms, an Ex-Lap).
With the help of Nurse Amber, a large rubber-like material was retrieved from Hazel’s small intestine and a plush toy was removed from her stomach.
Hazel has made a wonderful recovery and has returned home with her family🏡
Pictured below is Dr Claire and Nurse Amber with Hazel at discharge from hospital... and the toy taco in question.🌮

Recently, little Winnie was in hospital for a dental procedure and heart function check. Initially her owners had noticed she had very smelly breath at home and booked in for a vet consultation. Winnie had lots of plaque build up which needed to be removed under anaesthetic. She also required chest x-rays to help our vet team stage and manage her heart failure. Her anaesthetic was closely monitored by nurse team Amber & Alice and vet team Bree & Claire due to Winnie's heart failure making the anaesthetic high risk.
Winnie was found to have two wobbly teeth at the front of her mouth and two very rotten ones at the back of her mouth. It would have been impossible to detect and remove these teeth were it not for her being anaesthetised.
With her chest x-rays complete and her mouth cleaned up Winnie woke up from her anesthesia snuggled up in one of our warming devices (a Bair Hugger-top left two pictures).
Winnie has had her recheck and is back to being her usual happy self again (picture bottom left).
The picture on the right shows just how much monitoring, equipment and concentration/skill it takes to perform animal dental procedures in our Naracoorte clinic.

❗️PARVOVIRUS HAS REARED ITS UGLY HEAD - BE PREPARED❗️
There has been a confirmed case of deadly Parvovirus in the local area. This life threatening disease is very easily transferable between dogs. It survives for long periods in the environment - you can unknowingly take it home to your pet.

Parvovirus is easily prevented with vaccination. Make sure your dog is up to date with their annual vaccination now!

🩵 The tale of Monty's tail 🩵
Monty is a 9 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who saw Dr. Sam last Sunday with a major tail injury. Monty's injury was so severe that his tail was only holding on by a small amount of tissue. Due to the extent of Monty's injury, the bottom half of his tail needed to be surgically removed. Dr. Sam stabilised Monty on Sunday and Dr. Emily performed the procedure the following day. 🐕
While Monty was under anaesthetic, we discovered one of his teeth was infected and needed to be removed (pictured top left).
We still don't know what caused Monty's injury but can confirm he has made a wonderful recovery and we look forward to seeing him again soon for his recheck. 🫶
