WARNING TO ALL DOG OWNERS 💥

Heartworm is in our area with more cases being diagnosed every week! 😞

This horrible parasite is transmitted via mosquitos and subsequently extremely difficult to avoid, prevention is key!

Dogs don’t necessarily show any symptoms of having them but if infected their heart is becoming damaged and treatment is urgent!

Has your Dog:
Had a heartworm tablet every 28 days for the entirety of their life and always been in the correct weight range (1kg under dosing can still allow infection)?
OR
Had the annual heartworm needle from 12 weeks old and never been overdue?

If the answer to either of those questions is NO we highly recommend booking a vet consult to get a heartworm test performed and then to get onto adequate prevention, the best option being the annual heartworm needle.

Some excellent advice below from Allpets Caboolture! We will still be open today unless the weather becomes too dangerous ♥️

With Alfred now heading our way, please see the following information to keep your furry friends safe.

1. Bring animals inside
2. Create a safe space for them. For example, a crate can reduce anxiety and be a means to escape if necessary.
3. A thundershirt can help to keep them calm
4. Medical kit for animals
5. Medication. Please make sure you have enough prescription medication for a few days. Please ring today if medications are needed
6. Some dogs and cats may need calming medication, please ring today to organise this if needed.
6. Make sure your pets microchip details are up to date.
7. Ensure they have enough food and water for a few days.

Nitro was a brave boy for his needles last week, this gorgeous boy is one of the seniors we look after and he is such a delight to visit 🥰

HomeSafeID’s database is soon closing! Please double check your pet doesn’t have a microchip from them and transfer over to another company if needed ♥️

‼️ IMPORTANT UPDATE: PET MICROCHIPPING‼️
Microchip Pet Registry company, HomeSafeID, will soon cease to operate online.

What does this mean? 👇
If you know your pet is registered with HomeSafeID, you will need to change your microchip registration to another company 📝

If your pet's registration isn't updated, should they go missing or are found, vets/councils/animal shelters will no longer be able to view your pet’s ownership details listed on their microchip when it is scanned, making it difficult to reunite you!

If you don’t know your pet’s microchip number or have lost their paperwork with their registration details, contact your veterinarian, council or animal shelter. They can scan your pet and provide the microchip number.

If you adopted a pet from RSPCA with a HomeSafe ID registry or had a microchip implanted at a RSPCA Community Day, while we cannot update your pet’s microchip details for you, we can help you find your adoptee’s microchip number and answer any questions you may have on 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625) or your local shelter.
