SNAKE LOOKALIKES β
Here are some of Queenslands most commonly found snake lookalikes! These beauties are often mistaken for snakes, however theyβre an entirely different species and contain no venom. Their movements almost completely resemble snakes, however their most obvious differences are visible ears, visible eyelids, and unforked tongues.
The three-clawed worm skink has tiny little legs that are quite difficult to see from a distance, while the lizards are completely legless. Evolution has caused the lizards legs to disappear overtime, leaving a small indent where they used to be.
Itβs still important to be cautious around these guys as they can give a gnarly bite if provoked. But in any case, always assume the animal is venomous, keep yourself, children and pets away, and call a professional! π¦

NON-VENOMOUS SNAKE ID β
I created these individual identification pictures of common non-venomous snakes in the Sunshine Coast/Moreton bay region. Keep this post handy in the event you need help identifying a snake in your home or in the wild!
Although these snakes arenβt venomous, you still donβt want to be bitten by one! This will cause stress to the snake, and of course leave you with a nasty little bruise. Itβs important to still admire these guys from a distance, as they can still be wrongly identified. For example, the keelback often gets mixed up with the rough scaled snake, which is extremely dangerous.
I hope this post helps! π

MILD TO MODERATELY VENOMOUS SNAKE ID β
I created these individual identification pictures of common mild/moderately venomous snakes in the Sunshine Coast/Moreton bay region. Keep this post handy in the event you need help identifying a snake in your home or in the wild!
Although these snakes arenβt dangerously venomous, you still donβt want to be bitten by one! A bite will generally cause severe pain, swelling, nausea and headaches, and in the unlikely event, an anaphylactic reaction.
hospital trips are no fun, so ALWAYS admire any snake from a distance, and I hope this post helps! π

HIGHLY VENOMOUS SNAKE ID β
I created these individual identification pictures of common venomous snakes in the Sunshine Coast/Moreton bay region. Keep this post handy in the event you need help identifying a snake in your home or in the wild!
Every single snake is unique to its patterns and colourings, and itβs important to remember these can change depending on the snakes age, their shed cycle and other environmental factors. For example, a juvenile brown snake looks a lot different to an adult brown snakeβ¦. and a tiger snake can have perfect grey and white bands, or be almost entirely black!
Either way, ALWAYS admire any snake from a distance and I hope this post helps! π

Thought Iβd use this clip from tonight to get my content started!! This beautiful carpet python made itself comfortable in a chook pen in Burpengary. It had a full belly when we arrived, so I ensured to be as gentle as possible so I didnβt disturb its digestion process! We took the snake to a local forest so it can continue to digest and enjoy this heat! ππ

Super excited to begin this journey with the help of my dad Ian Woolyπ«Άπ½π I began my study in 2021 and completed my Reptile Zoology course in 2023! I also completed my venomous snake handling course in 2021, and have attended various reptile day courses since. We just have a few more things to get sorted on the business side, then I will update our availability so we can begin helping people out!! My 2024 goal is to gain experience, gain support and promote the importance of wildlife safety π±π

We had been trying to get this little red belly for a few days now! He had the perfect little hidy hole that we couldnβt quite access. The owner of the house had small pets and young children so this guy was best to go back out into the bush! #highlyvenomous #redbelliedblacksnake
Little Carpet Pythons are so sweet! youβll notice his belly looks a bit oddly shaped in this video, I wonder what he ate π¦ π π π₯ #snakecatcher #carpetpython
cheeky little chomp from this carpet python! Reflecting on this catch, I would have taken a different approach to prevent being bitten, however this job is all about learning as you go as every snake is different and sometimes unpredictable! ππ«Άπ½ #carpetpython #snakerescue #snakecatcher #snakebite
Short clips but a whole lot of venomous snake tailing!! The snakes in this video are: Red bellied black, tiger snake, King brown, coastal taipan, rough-scaled snake and a death adder π Thank you @australianwildlifeencounters for providing incredible courses and opportunities, the adrenaline and confidence we felt after today was sick!!
We had some fun tailing with this Eastern Brown! (Pseudonaja Textilis). These guys are super fast and reactive so the concentration in this vid is real!! Can you tell I riled him up for dad?! π€« #easternbrown #snakecatching
Starting these vids off strong with an Inland Taipan (Oxyuranus Microlepidotus) π This beauty happens to be the most venomous snake in the world! They inhabit the outbacks of Australia, following the West coastline of QLD, so we are very grateful to have handled one all the way in Brisbane! #snakecatcher #tailing #inlandtaipan
blessed to have been able to rescue this beauty in Narangba this afternoon π common tree snakes are unbelievably pretty and incredible at climbing! She looked cosy up on that picture frame but will thrive out in the forests of Narangba! I have been getting some practise in by helping friends out, but am super excited to officially open soon so I can help more people and more snakes out! π #snakecatcher #animalrescue #rescue #snakes
