Update: We're all fine. It's still raining but no local flooding and as far as I'm aware roads to us are all ok.

Please be patient trying to get hold of us. We have no power, phone, internet or mobile service. I'm having to drive a few km's up the road to check in with customers / emails etc whilst parked up in the car. I am able to do this a couple of times a day but I will be very difficult to contact in between these times. Thank you for your patience.

**Update**

Well last night was wild! All good here though - being down slope from the wind direction we have no damage at all. The buildings are quite sheltered from the crazy wind. We are open this afternoon 3-5pm. We have no power and barely any internet so we are not very contactable. I have been able to divert our landline to my mobile so please call (07) 33855127 if you have anything important that can't wait - for now this is the best contact. With no internet it's difficult to make amendments to bookings so if it can wait, please hold enquiries for a day or two. I'm currently sitting in a carpark in Morayfield to be able to get my phone data to work!

The roads to us are messy but clear except Shea Rd off Dayboro Rd which has a huge tree across it and power lines down. Raynbird / Oakey Flat and New Settlement are all clear.

Please bear with us for emails etc until power comes back......who knows when that will be with so many people out!

Good news for us......we barely had anything worse than the famous Ekka winds. Thankfully Alfie ran out of puff before he reached us. All is well. So far all we have had is some nice and much needed light rain. The radar seems to show the low system spinning the rain out to the west of us so hopefully the farmers are getting it. It will be business as usual tomorrow for our opening session 3-5pm. Happy days!

A quick update. All is well here. It's pretty windy but nothing too crazy and not much rain still as yet. I have cleared my schedule now until Sunday afternoon so we will now be CLOSED until then. The office is now unattended and the answer machine is off so that I can give my full attention to all our kitty guests and our property. The best contact for us will be email over the next few days. Wishing my customers all the best. I have several of them trying to make their way home from overseas with constantly cancelled flights and some on cruise boats stuck out at sea for several days already. Hopefully Alfred gets it together and we can get this over with sooner rather than later. Stay safe everyone!

Well, cyclone Alfie continues to keep us all on our toes! This week has been fun and games with all the changes to scheduling we have made. With him now stalling and slowing down off the coast, the current tracking has him now most likely crossing into Saturday morning. So, with this in mind, customers that are due their cats to come in or out over the coming days, please monitor the situation and contact me via email if you feel you need to make any amendments. The current modelling suggests we would be ok to open tomorrow morning but depending on how things change, tomorrow afternoon and Saturday morning might potentially be a no go. I will not open if it is unsafe to do so or if there are warnings in place on the risk to travel. Any closure on Saturday morning might be made at short notice so I will email / call any customers this may involve today to give a head's up on this. Fingers crossed Sunday is business as usual however if those customers could also please keep an eye on the situation and contact us if you wish to make amendments. Our email is [email protected]. Hi folks! With Alfie tracking towards SE Qld we have made the decision to close to customers tomorrow and Friday. Thank you to all my customers who were fabulous in letting us amend your booking. Our priority is safety and we really do not want to have customers travelling to / from us when conditions are not safe to do so. We are planning (currently) to open as normal on Saturday morning. So far all is well and our kitty guests are enjoying a nice cool breeze! As long as the 4g network stays online we will post an update once we are over the worst of it. I will be contactable via email (wifi permitting) however the reception will not be attended to take phone calls over the next few days.

** EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY**
We are looking for another person to join our small team here at Cat’s Cradle. Employment would be on a permanent, part time basis starting from 15 hours/week with pay rates as according to the miscellaneous award. The position is for an ‘all rounder’ in our facility. Duties will include cleaning the cat rooms, feeding, monitoring cat health and well being as well as reception duties - answering phones and emails, processing bookings and greeting customers checking in / out their cat. Hours are 7am - 10am and 2 / 2.30pm - 5/ 5.30pm over a 7 day roster.

Previous experience is preferred but not essential. We are looking for genuine animal lovers who are confident around cats. Full training will be provided.

The ideal applicant will be / have:

- Previous experience (preferred but not essential)
- Confidence around cats
- Flexible with shifts over a 7 day roster including weekends and public holidays, school holidays, Easter and Christmas.
- Reliable and punctual
- Trustworthy
- Have a reasonable level of physical fitness
- Be able to work in a fast paced environment
- Good attention to detail
- Good communication and exceptional customer service skills are essential
- Effective time management skills
- Driver’s licence and own transport
- Experience using computer programs

There will be periods where up to full time hours are required during peak times and for staff holiday cover.
