Proud Dad moment. I said I was going to saddle up flash for the first time in 3 or 4 months and 10 year old Mia, my daughter, said she wanted to ride him.
Mia hasn't been interested in riding in years and I never pushed the point hoping she might get back into it.
Well Flash isn't exactly small at 17 hands-ish and Mia is pretty small for a 10 year old but up she goes.
Only on lead today but she did say she want's to ride again before school tomorrow.
Flash is only halfway through his training and he is such a good listener and learner. He is a keeper. Mia want's him for her horse.
No pic today but as a size comparison, this was Ash, he was a similar height to Flash and is a fantastic horse. I heard he was doing well at his new home the other day which is wonderful to hear. I miss him quite a bit to be honest. He was such a proud horse.

And so the rebuild begins.
Its a bit disheartening when you have to look at the same mess every day. We got off very lightly.
I was doing a job at Link Road Wandella (Cobargo) the other day and every home there has been destroyed.
All the promises of assistance from the government regarding cleanup costs and yet here we are more than a month later and the government still don't seem to have released any funds to local contractors or property owners to enable clean ups to begin.
It is psychologically damaging to have to constantly see your home and property in the state it is in.
All these funds that were donated by kind hearted persons is a wonderful thing, but it seems that to every silver lining there is a cloud.
Businesses are hurting and locals desperately need the work.
Lets hope the government in their infinite wisdom don't simply give out clean up contracts to a couple of big out of area companies.
A mechanic mate of mine lost 30 odd years of workshop equipment and his workshop. These people need to get back on their feet as soon as possible.
So if you are thinking of Donating, don't give it to a faceless organisation. Come and spend the money in the affected areas instead.
Brad and Gayle who owned a mechanical workshop at Coologalite pretty much typify the desperation of thousands of affected people. Pick your self up and dust your self off and start again.
But the cleanup MUST begin.

At present we have horses looking for new homes.
Gem is a lovely natured horse. She is 16 and is perfect as a beginners or lead line horse.
We have broken her to riding saddle and she walks, trots, backs up, knows how to side pass etc...
Gem is Free to good home as we can't afford to keep feeding 14 horses and I don't have the time to continue her education.

Many thanks and wishing everyone the happiest and safest Christmas and New years.

Jess, retrained standardbred being ridden by our 13yo. Some of the things that the horses get up to here at Standardbreds southern NSW are a little more advanced than the average horse training. The timber bridge is a great learning aid for the horses and helps to desentisize them to weird and unusual situations.

Abby our 13 year old riding Jess around the paddock yesterday. As you can see Abby the Black Labrador is also helping out. Bit unfortunate both the child and dog having the same name but the dog is 3 years old and came with that name when she moved here 3 months ago from a suburban block in Sydney. Jess is a standardbred horse that was too slow to race but is becoming a very nice riding horse. She is becoming very comfortable with trotting and cantering and Abby the human is going to start to jump Jess soon.
Too good to waste, Standardbreds make fantastic riding horses with the right retraining and have lovely personalities.
They do become a part of your family.
If you want to meet Jess she is looking for a new home, we have way too many horses and you cannot keep them all. Jess is suitable for an intermediate rider and up.

Hi my name is Mack.
Thank you to all those who saw me on the page, I have found my new family and will be heading to my new home on Sunday.
Im really looking forward to learning all about my new rider, She is only 14 years old but seems to have it all sorted.
My old Mum and Dad are so pleased that Im going to a nice family.
This was my old advert :)

15.2hh 4 yo. Ideal for beginner riders and up. I'm a fully retrained Standardbred gelding and I know how to walk trot and canter just like I should. Im really interested in alot of activities, adult riding club, pony club, trail and pleasure riding, dressage etc. I think that I'm a great allrounder and Ive had extensive retraining in English riding.

I like people as they are nice to me but where I am now they have run out of room and need to make way for new Standardbreds to be retrained just like I have been.

I have had a good time at my old home, I have learned what leg aids are, how to bend and flex, I can back up and always am a good boy when it comes to getting my teeth and feet done.

I have even been shown how to jump. I'm only jumping little jumps at the moment but if you want to perhaps we could do some more.

Im only 4 years old but as with all my standardbred friends, don't be fooled by age. We are very sensible and calm horses, great for easy riding, and I don't get scared by much at all.

If you want to come and meet me please get in contact with my owners. I'm really looking forward to our new life together.

I currently live at Narooma on the NSW south coast. It is a lovely place to come and visit.

My owners took some video of me the other week. I'm very proud of what I have learned here. I've even been ridden ba****ck. If you scroll down the page a bit you should be able to find it. Otherwise go to my owners youtube page 'Narooma Horse and Carriage' and it is up there.
Im only $3000 and considering all the great things I can do thats a bargain.

First time I have ridden Cossie in well over 12 months. Very dirty and in a little bit of a hurry at first but turned to gold very quickly.
i love her, she is such a good horse. Unbelievably responsive and willing.
If it wasn't so cold I'd give her a wash and some more pampering.
When you find the right horse you know it.

Although we try to answer every message we get, between working full time in electrical and excavation work, working horses and also juggling family time occasionally messages and phone calls get unanswered.
Im sorry to any one I have upset over this but lets be honest, Family time comes before anything else and if you don't like that well that is just bad luck.
Im not going to sit back and cop abuse for unanswered messages. If you really want to talk to me, how about calling us, preferably during working hours. I do not live on Facebook.
I do my best to save horses from the dog food factory.
Retraining horses does not make us any money, To be brutally honest the effort is financially disastrous. Everyone wants a cheap beginner horse. Sorry but if you want an exceptionally quiet beginners horse its going to cost money.
Good horses do not come with a small price tag.
I'm an electrical contractor and if I want to make a quid I'll go pull wires with a fair less degree of danger and effort.
I don't deserve s**t from any one and will not tolerate it.
Rant over.
I hope that everyone else has had a better afternoon than me.
Regards,
Phil

SOLD
$2800 "Reddy" Calm & Gentle Standardbred gelding: 16hh. 8 y.o. Bright Bay with 1 white sock. Reddy is ideal for beginners and up. He has a lovely attitude, is very relaxed, friendly, loving, quiet, and willing. Trained in saddle and harness. Walks, trots and canters. He is eager to please, responsive to leg and voice aids. Has done trail rides, through creeks, over bridges, along the road with traffic. Not much fazes Reddy - a very reliable best friend indeed.
Used to farm machinery, bobcat, excavator and chainsaws, kids, dogs, chooks. Fantastic to work with on the ground, and in the saddle.
Great with kids of all ages. Our 7 and 11 year old girls ride him. Very easy to work with in every way. Good hard bare feet. Self loads into the float. So easy to take anywhere.
It really is nice to have a relaxing and enjoyable ride with this boy. No fizz or silliness that many other breeds display. He is an ideal mount for trail riding, adult riding club, pony club, jumping, eventing etc. Great All-rounder.

Call or message us to come and see Reddy or our other available horses. Ph: 02 4476 3123 / 0400 045 216.
