Last week, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Grahame & Danette from the Magical Learning Podcast as part of the Moira Shire’s ‘Building Business Resilience Program’.

We spoke about the impact of the 2012 & 2022 floods, the aftermath of Covid and the skills required to build and maintain resilience in a small business.

Themes of community, compassion and communication were also interwoven within the conversation.

🎉🐾 BREAKING NEWS: After a 6-week hiatus, DOGGY DAYCARE is BACK! 🐶💥

We know you’ve all been paws-itively desperate, but the wait is finally over! Our four-legged friends can once again enjoy their favourite playtime adventures. The toys are ready, the treats are stocked, and our staff is well-prepared for the inevitable chaos that comes with the return of these furry VIPs. 😂

So, book your pups in for some much-needed socializing, and let’s get them back to their regularly scheduled zoomies! 🐕💨

Both BYO Dog Daycare and Doggy Day Out return on Wednesday 29th January. (We can hear the collective sigh of relief from all our daycare dog parents).

🐾 The Golden Retriever 🐾

The Golden Retriever, with their iconic golden coat and loving nature, was first bred in Scotland in the 19th century by a man named Sir Dudley Marjoribanks (later known as Lord Tweedmouth). His goal? To create the perfect hunting dog that could retrieve game from both water and land. 🌊🎯

By crossing the now-extinct Tweed Water Spaniel with various Retrievers and Bloodhounds, Lord Tweedmouth created a breed known for its intelligence, trainability, and friendly temperament—traits that quickly made the Golden Retriever a family favorite and an essential working dog. 🐕💛

Today, Golden Retrievers are beloved worldwide for their gentle nature, loyalty, and versatility, excelling in everything from therapy work to dog sports.

The Labrador Retriever is one of the world’s most beloved dog breeds, but did you know their roots trace back to the chilly shores of Newfoundland, Canada? 🇨🇦 Originally called St. John's dogs or Lesser Newfoundland dogs, these loyal pups were bred to help fishermen retrieve nets and catch fish that slipped away. 🎣🐟

In the 19th century, British noblemen took interest in these hardworking dogs and began refining the breed, resulting in the friendly, outgoing, and super-smart Labrador we know today. Yes, you read that right. Nathalia Boarding Kennels & Cattery is on the hunt for a Team Leader Extraordinaire to join our 16-person crew.

This job isn’t for the faint-hearted. You’ll be on your feet all day (10,000-15,000 steps, minimum), lifting heavy things (like water troughs), working in all kinds of weather, handling strong-willed animals, and checking off endless tasks on our online system. It’s like a workout mixed with a game of Tetris...but with dogs. 🐕💪

Here’s what we’re looking for in our ideal Team Leader:

- Someone who leads by example, stays cool under pressure and isn’t afraid of a little hard work (or a lot of it).

- You’ve got to handle mundane tasks like a pro (mopping? No problem! Feeding time? You got this!).

- You’re the calm in the storm when things get chaotic, and you can take charge while still having fun.

- You enjoy managing logistics! Our kennel yards are basically a game of “Where’s Wally,” but with barking.

- Bonus points if you can handle drills, hammers, mowers, and have a manual driver’s license (don’t worry, we’ll teach you the rest).

So, if you’ve got a mature approach to life, a love for quirky pets, and an ability to jump into action when things get wild (because, let’s be real, they WILL get wild), we want YOU to be our next Purple Supernova! 🌟

Woo-hoo, we made it! (Well, almost...)

That was a massive effort, but the results are totally worth it! 🎉

We’re thrilled to announce that most of our Christmas boarding pets now have their adorable portraits up on social media! (There are a couple of rogue photos that are MIA, but don’t worry, I’m on the case!) A few were mislabelled (oops, too many chocolate Labradors in the mix!) but I’ve gone back and fixed those—your furry friends are properly represented now. 🐾

We hope you’ve been loving all the festive cuteness! 🎄✨
