Samson has progressed from bare back to being ridden in the saddle.

He is a lot more nervous with the saddle however didn't take long to start relaxing, offering a nice big relaxed walk and lots of licking and chewing.

Getting horses out on the trail is so important, most of my training happens out on the trail. There are so many benefits and reasons behind it.

1. Exposure
2. Balance
3. Fitness
4. teaches them to be sure footed
5. They will be more worried about what's going on around them to be bothered by what your doing
6. Prevents them becoming sour in the arena.

The list is endless!

Unfortunately not the best video as it was right on getting dark. Not that the horses seemed to mind. Izzy was super relaxed and very forward even leaving home, she poped her self up in front and went on like she'd done it a million times.

My amazing littler helper brought Samson along and he certainly seems to enjoy getting out and about!

Izzy being a super star today!! After sitting there for a while I decided to see how she would go having things asked of her under saddle. Still a little hesitant but could not be happier.

Slow and steady wins the race. Today Izzy let me have my first sit on her. Didn't ask anything of her and just sat there. She was super relaxed even letting out a nice big yawn. After a while she even decided to have a little walk across the yard. Super big achievement today 🥰

Samson coming along beautifully now even after a bucking episode yesterday. Starting to show a lot more relaxation, even giving us some nice big yawns today. Still moving forward 🤗

Iv decided to try out a completely different method of training for Samson after he took quiet a few steps back. Iv found that desensitising him the usual way just simply is not working for him. He complete shuts down and only gets more afraid and nervous.

So... we are trying it at liberty, no halter means no added pressure, he dosnt feel trapped and he can walk away if he so chooses, dosnt mean I won't follow him but he does have that feeling of freedom.
At the start of this session I couldnt walk up to him with a saddle pad in my hand. Now he walks up to me. This is the most relaxed Iv seen this horse since he arrived.

As trainers it is so important to be able to adapt our training methods, to keep an open mind and remember its not a step by step process.

Getting more and more relaxed with the saddle. This session we spent a lot of time undoing and doing the girth back up as she still gets nervous about it but baby steps with this girl.

After still having some issues with bucking with a saddle on we took a step back to address the anxiety causing the issue and well the video speaks for its self. Just goes to show to never be afraid to take a few steps back.

Bella went back home on Friday after her 6 weeks with us then off to pony club on the Sunday. What an amazing little horse. Certainly excited to see what her owner achieves with her 🤠

Mel has been having weekly lessons with us on Archie for a while now and has recently started giving a bit of jumping ago. We are so proud of how both her ridding and horsemanship is coming along we just had to share this video. 😁

Bella offering some amazing work today. Improving in so many aspects. And offering her first jump. Due to her age we will not be popping her over anything bigger than this but in a few years I think she will make quite the jumper 😁

I really do hope this girl finds her self in a show home getting out there and showing just how good standies are!!! Queenie is certainly starting to come together nicely. She is currently priced at a very reasonable price however this will continue to go up with further training and exposure. Please feel free to message for any enquiries.
