Another Bushy Park Show done and dusted!
The Tas and Vegas started the day in the show ring with Sarah, each placing 2nd in their respective classes.

They then joined me at the animal nursery, where they recieved lots of scratches and compliments on their behaviour from show patrons.

Today marks 3 years since Wattlebray Pin Up arrived in Tassie

Welcome to Tassie Wattlebray PinUp! So excited to finally meet this big guy in person. Even after travelling all the way from Queensland he's laid back and level headed, a real credit to his breeders the Ford family.

Thanks to Craig Dolinski and Paul for getting him safely to Victoria, and Page Transport for getting him across Bass Strait.

Looking forward to the arrival of his ladies and seeing how the Charbray breed performs in Tassie!

A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to have a chat with ABC Hobart's Tony Briscoe about how the Charbrays are going in Tassie.

Meanwhile Pin was a little too busy chasing a cow around the paddock to pose for a photo 😂

“Pin Up” the Charbray bull relocated from Queensland to Tasmania to help Derwent Valley farmer Lauren Burn build up a herd of Charbray cattle, a cross breed between Charolais and Brahman.

The young bull is doing very well in his new home, and is proving to be loved by the ladies.

Brighton Show 2024 🌞

We took 3 animals out, each was awarded first place and champion in their respective section in the breed classes.

While we didn't make it into the top three in the Interbreed, we got some great feedback from the judge and had the chance to chat with many members of the public about the Charbray breed throughout the day.

I'm especially pleased with senior heifer Maravillar Toohey, who we only decided to halter break three weeks ago, she took everything in stride and was cool as a cucumber all day.

With recent warm weather Maravillar Vegas has shed out the last of his winter fluff and is looking sleek 😎

The humans on the other hand aren't sure about this 27°C business 🥵

With the recent rainfall and weather starting to warm up we're finally getting some grass growth after a fairly rough 12 months.

Despite the limited feed the girls are doing a wonderful job with this seasons calves and I'm looking forward to seeing how they grow out!

It's a little wet in Tassie at the moment!
After a very dry 12 months, the rains have well and truly arrived.
Thankfully all my livestock are safe, if not a bit cold and wet.

Like mother like daughter......Huntington La Marne Q196 and daughter Huntington La Marne S420 (aka Mini) have produced almost identical calves.

It's definitely a struggle to pick who is who from a distance!
