Moving soon? Let’s talk pet prep 🐾 Relocating can be stressful for pets, but with a little preparation, you can help ease their transition into a new space. Here’s how to make the move smoother for your dogs and cats:

Prior to Moving:
🐾 Get them familiar and If possible, let your dog explore the new home beforehand. Bring treats to make it a positive experience.
🐾 Prepare for anxiety. Talk to your vet about anti-anxiety options for dogs/ cats to start before the move.
🐾 Make sure your pet’s ID and microchip info are up to date with your new address!

On Moving Day:
🐾 To reduce stress and the risk of them escaping through open doors while furniture is being move,, arrange for your pets to stay with a friend or with us.

After You Move:
🐾 Keep your pet’s meal, walk, and playtime schedules consistent to provide them with comfort.
🐾 Slowly increase your dog’s time alone in the new home to prevent separation anxiety.
🐾 Give your pets familiar toys, bedding, and new activities to keep them entertained in the unfamiliar space.

Special Tips for Cats:
🐾 Keep your cat indoors for at least 3 weeks to adjust before allowing outdoor exploration.
🐾 After the confinement period, allow short, supervised outdoor sessions.
🐾 A move is a perfect time to transition outdoor cats to an indoor lifestyle, keeping them safe from potential dangers.

🎃 Trick or… did someone say treats? 🐾 Halloween is upon us, and while it’s all fun and frights for humans, our pets could use a few extra KARE tips to stay safe, secure, and comfy amid the excitement!

👻 Keep cats indoors and pups leashed when out and about. For any pet who might feel the Halloween hustle a bit too much, consider keeping them in a secure, separate room to prevent any unexpected dashes out the door!

👻 If your pet’s joining in on the dress-up fun, always prioritise comfort, and keep an eye on them while they’re in costume to make sure they’re safe (and happy) in their outfit.

👻 Halloween can be chaotic, so double-check that collars and microchips are current, just in case of any unplanned escapes.

👻 While treats are the name of the game, keep all the lollies and chocolates well out of reach. Many can be toxic to pets, and even wrappers can pose a hazard!

👻 Make sure any spooky decorations, especially candles or fragile items, are placed where curious pets can’t get to them.

👻 For pets who might be nervous about doorbell rings and visitors, set up a quiet, cozy space with familiar toys and treats. It’s the perfect retreat for some peace amidst the Halloween festivities.

WHO WE ARE.

Pups and Paws provides dog walking services throughout Newcastle & the Hunter Valley. My love for dogs has never been something I've ever had to question, hence why I love taking your pups on fun, socialised and energetic walks.

I offer off-leash walks for socialised and well mannered pups at friendly local dog parks and local beaches. Aswell as on-leash walks (or run - if you have a SUPER energetic fur baby) through locals parks and surrounding beaches and suburbs. These walks will ensure your pup will stay fit & healthy as well socialising whilst you may be at work or away on holidays.

Swimming at the beach in the fresh salt water and rubbing their nose in the sand is all well and fun until someone starts to smell just a little bit to doggy for everyone's liking... This is why Pups and Paws also provides a full bath and blow dry which consists of sensitive skin shampoo & conditioner as well as a flea and tick cover on their coat.

I love what I do and I know for sure your pup will love it too. X
