Ace is a lovely German Shepherd who prefers the company of females. He is unsure of males he doesn't know but does take to them after awhile. He still needs some lead training but is fully house trained and loves to be with his humans and have all the attention for himself.
His adoption includes de-sexing, microchipping and vaccination.

Diesel is a super friendly Bull Arab x Wolfhound who loves everyone. He is great with cats, dogs, children and unfamiliar men and women. He is fully toilet trained and good on the lead.
His adoption includes de-sexing, microchipping and vaccination.

Puppies and kittens don't require a vet check as desexing, microchipping and an initial vaccination will be included within their adoption fees.

The Hervey Bay Animal Refuge had a visit from Senator Pauline Hanson this morning. The volunteers & the public were pleased with her talks, & she speaks so well. What an amazing lady she is. Maree & Col took Senator Pauline Hanson into the Animal Refuge Office & had a chat to her in there & told her the story as to how the Animal Refuge was first formed & started 😽🐶. After the talk about the Refuge & volunteers she made the comment we all should be very proud of ourselves. Senator Pauline Hanson was impressed with the Charity that forty-seven years have passed the Animal Refuge is still open & running👏. It was enjoyable morning a lovely visit with Senator Pauline Hanson. In the 47 years Senator Pauline Hanson is the second politician to pay a visit to the Animal Refuge. On Thursday the 11th of July at 10a.m. Senator Pauline Hanson will be visiting the Charity the Hervey Bay Animal Refuge at Nikenbah 🐶🐱. She will have talks about the cost of living crisis & other issues. She will be told the story as to how the Hervey Bay Animal Refuge first started & how it is a much needed service ...
We have closed the gates for the day with Tilly and Snow going to their new homes and we welcomed Chloe, Deakin and Zac to the kennels.
We will be open again on Friday 10am-2pm.

Deakin is a Mastiff x who loves everyone. He is super playful and will still need some additional training as he does get very excited. Due to this he would be best suited to a home with older children.
His adoption includes de-sexing, microchipping and vaccination.

Chloe is a lovely German x Belgian Shepherd. She is good with children and loves to play.
Chloe is toilet trained and will need some additional lead training. She is untested with cats and prefers to be the only dog.

Silo is a Staffy x Cattle Dog, he is very affectionate and enjoys constant company. He gets along with other dogs and can be very playful. Silo will still require some additional training but is very treat orientated. He loves swimming and high energy activities.

Buddy is a Border Collie x who is still in training so would be best suited to a home where someone will be able to put the time and effort into training him. Buddy is a high energy dog and can be super playful. He loves to be with people all the time and also likes playing with other dogs.

A 2 year old DSH who loves affection and is always up for a cuddle or two. Winston loves the outdoors, he has a playful soul and likes to adventure in the sunshine, he enjoys having a nice conversation with anybody he meets and tends to shed some love when excited.

Good Morning. We are open today from 10am-2pm. We have an update on Chipmunk. If you saw Chipmunk here in our cattery you would of seen a scardy cat. The cattery (other cats/lots of people) was just too much for him. This lovely family adopted him and look at him now!!! He is loving the family life and being the centre of attention. Absolutely melts our hearts 💕
A huge thank you to Mel from Jim's dog wash for this huge haul of kitten/puppy food and toys for our residents. Shadow looks extremely happy with it all.
