So I brought Dan in tonight to tend to his wounds caused by the nastiest flies that ever existed - the Giant Horsefly. I thought I'd share the footage with you as now the jerks have taken to his face π«ππΏ
So as always it's a dilemma...
Do I totally cover him up with rugs, hoods and boots, even though it's still Summer?
Or, keep his coverings minimal and keep running the gauntlet against these insects which are eating him alive and aren't particularly bothered by repellent??
What are you all doing?
Surely I'm not the only one that's got a horse reacting to these bites??
On the other hand, Poco the Pony isn't succumbing to these bites at all π€·ββοΈ
Please share your tips and tricks with us.
So this little black bottle of Lavish Tails has just become my new favourite little bit of magic for the grooming box.
Everyone kept raving about it , and I just couldn't believe that it could be THAT good. But folks, the verdict is in.
It truly is THAT good.
Better than, in fact.
So I washed Dan last Sunday. I followed the instructions on the bottle. In his very long tail I used about a 20c round in my palm. Yep, using less is more. After the 3 minute wait, I combed out easily. Best detangler I've used. His tail was in such a state too after months with out a tail bag and plenty of mud. It did get a good scrub prior.
But here's where I've been blown away. During the week, making the most of the extra daylight, I've squeezed in a few short lunge sessions. Taking the tailbag off and combing his tail out has been a dream. No additional product required.
So the beauty in the product is the staying power.
It lasts and lasts.
This is today. A week after just that single application, look at the floof, the body and volume. I wish I could hold the camera and film how easy it was to brush it out. No fuss. Oh and it smells devine π€π€π€π€π€ #murdochandmarcel #lavishtails

What is in your first aid kit for your animals?
Do you even have one??
We post about this ALL the time.
It's our humble belief, if you have animals in your care, especially horses, learn basic first aid and wound care for them π©Έπ©Ήπ©Ί
A cut thats not quite dramatic enough for suturing or a vet call out, if left untreated could possibly lead to exactly that...a vet call out.
We can always help you put a little kit together from our extensive range.
Check out the little collection for 2 horses and 2 dogs I call on for help.
Where have you been all my life?!
π― Tiger's Tongue will be the best horse hack you discover this winter.
I don't clip my horses (mostly because I'm too lazy and time poor for the rugging and stabling required, and Dan just doesn't get that shaggy), I also only have cold water on the wash bay.
So what happens when your horse is a bit on the dirty side, but its too cold for a wash and you really want to give them more than a usual brush out??
This. This little bit of stuff is what you need in your life. Seriously, the best $12 bucks I've spent in a long time.
In stock, in store now.
You're welcome π
We are loving the Lami-Cell helmets.

Well...4 weekends in a row stuck at home with rainy days...so catching up on ALL those jobs and tasks that I've been meaning to do for years, yep years!
My old faithful Oil Skin Coat has been getting a lot of use the last few months. So given it is close to 20 years old...and I've never re-oiled it I thought it was high time!
π¦π¦ Like water off a Duck's Back, thats exactly what I used from @OutbackTradingCompany
My coat is a half length and I used about 3/4 of a pot to do the whole coat. And this stuff smells amazing!
After letting it dry and soak in the treatment, I just fed the horses...in the rain again... I couldn't stop sniffing my coat π€£π€
What other TLC jobs have you been getting top of with all these wet weekends stuck inside? My next job is rug repairs and sorting π€¦ββοΈ

Progress update
2 weeks in
(whoops, I said 3 weeks in the live, but I checked the dates, and it is in fact 2 weeks) ...which makes the change even more impressive.
Side by side photo in first comment π
A case study for us to do together...everybody meet Dan.
A 13 y.o, 17.3hh, Thoroughbred.
Out of work for 2 years, had 2 bouts of colic about 8 weeks apart (the last one was about 4 weeks ago). He is just not thriving since coming out of the drought. We are trying an adjusted feeding program and 2 new supplements over the next 8 weeks to see if we can get a better result to his condition. I will put a before drought photo in the comments and also some info on the products we will be using on him. And by all means...please share you tips and tricks with us as well.
Wish me luck. ππ€π
