🌟 A Well-Earned Break for Dr Daniel! 🌟
Our wonderful vet, Dr Daniel, will be taking some much-needed and well-deserved leave starting tomorrow. We’re so grateful for all the hard work, care, and compassion he brings to our patients — and we’re excited for him to enjoy a bit of rest and recharge time! 💙🐾

But don’t worry — we’ve got you covered throughout December!
The amazing Dr Lana will be available for consultations and is ready to look after all your furry family members’ needs during this time. Please note that during Dr. Daniel's temporary absence, we will be operating without his extensive experience and expertise, which may result in some limitations in our services.

If you have any questions or would like to book an appointment, just give us a call!
Thank you for your understanding, and please join us in wishing Dr Daniel a relaxing break and welcoming Dr Lana to our team! 🌿✨

🌞 Hot Weather Alert: Keep Your Pets Safe! 🌡️🐾

With temperatures rising in the coming days, we want to remind all pet parents that hot weather can be dangerous for our furry friends. Pets can overheat quickly—even faster than humans—so a little prevention goes a long way.

🔥 Heat Risks to Watch For:

Heatstroke: Excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, or collapse.

Burned Paw Pads: Pavement and sand become extremely hot and can cause painful burns.

Dehydration: Pets may struggle to stay hydrated, especially active or senior animals.

Breathing Difficulties: Flat-faced breeds (like Bulldogs, Pugs, Persians) are at higher risk.

🌿 Tips to Keep Your Pet Safe:
✔ Provide plenty of fresh water and shade.
✔ Walk dogs early in the morning or late evening—avoid midday heat.
✔ Test the pavement with your hand: if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for paws!
✔ Never leave pets in a parked car, even for a minute.
✔ Keep indoor pets cool with fans, AC, or cool mats.
✔ Know the signs of heatstroke and contact us immediately if you suspect it.

Your pets trust you to keep them safe—let’s help them stay cool and comfortable all summer long! 💛🐶🐱

If you have questions or worries about your pet during this heat, give us a call. We’re here to help! ☎️🐾

🌟 Is Your Pet Struggling with Separation Anxiety? 🐾

Separation anxiety is a common issue for many pets, especially when they’re left alone. If your furry friend exhibits signs like excessive barking, destructive behavior, or even accidents in the house when you're away, they might be experiencing anxiety.

🔍 What You Might Notice:

Constant whining or barking when you leave

Chewing on furniture, shoes, or other items

Excessive drooling or pacing

In severe cases, vomiting or diarrhea

How Can We Help?
If your pet is showing signs of separation anxiety, it’s important to address it early. At South Nowra Veterinary Hospital, we work with you to create a treatment plan tailored to your pet’s needs, which may include behavior modification, environmental changes, and even medications when necessary.

👩‍⚕️ What You Can Do At Home:

Practice leaving for short periods and gradually increase the time away.

Provide your pet with interactive toys or puzzles to keep them occupied.

Create a calm, consistent environment with familiar scents and sounds.

✨ Remember: Every pet is unique, and with the right support, many pets can overcome separation anxiety and feel more comfortable when left alone.

📞 Concerned about your pet? Schedule a consultation with our team today! We're here to help guide you through the process of supporting your pet's emotional health.

**⚠️ Alert: Protect Your Pet from the TrackAPet Microchip Scam! 🐾

We’ve been made aware of a new scam targeting pet owners, and we want to make sure our community stays informed and protected. 🚨

The Scam: TrackAPet
Scammers are reaching out to pet owners, claiming to registration services for expired microchips through a website called TrackAPet. They may send emails, text messages, or even call pet owners, asking them to register or update their pet's microchip with their service, often for a fee.

What You Need to Know:

Legitimate microchip registration is handled by the local council and is usually a one-time fee.

TrackAPet is NOT associated with any reputable microchip provider, and this scam is designed to trick you into paying for a service that doesn’t exist.

If you’ve received any suspicious communication or are unsure about the legitimacy of a service, do NOT provide any personal or financial information.

What You Can Do:

Double-check the registration of your pet’s microchip by contacting the council directly (not through a third party).

If you have concerns, contact us—we’re here to help and provide guidance!

Always be cautious of unsolicited messages asking for personal information, especially when it involves your pet’s microchip or health.

If you're unsure whether your pet’s microchip is properly registered, give us a call! We can help verify the details and ensure your pet’s information is up to date.

💻 Remember: You can always verify microchip registration through official channels to ensure your pet is protected.

Stay safe, stay informed, and let’s keep our pets safe together! 🐶🐱

Do you have an older pet?
Do you know the signs of ageing?

Dogs and cats are considered to be mature adults once they turn 7 years old. Large breed dogs age more quickly and are considered mature at 5-6 years of age

🐾🧠 Keep your furry friends entertained and mentally stimulated with dog puzzles! 🧠🐾

Did you know that dog puzzles can help reduce boredom, prevent destructive behaviors, and even slow down fast eaters? 🤔 These engaging toys challenge your dog's problem-solving skills and provide a fun way to keep them occupied.

We recommend introducing puzzles gradually and always supervising your pup during playtime. 🐶❤️

* Schedule an appointment: Book a visit with us to update any necessary vaccinations and discuss any other health concerns before your trip.
* Allow time for immunity: Keep in mind that some vaccines require a few weeks to provide full protection, so don't wait until the last minute!
