Quick lesson about autoimmune diseases. It takes an average of three years and five doctors for a person to get a proper diagnosis of an autoimmune disease. It is a disease where instead of your white blood cells protecting your body from invaders, they turn around and attack your cells, tissues and organs. Chronic fatigue is another symptom. It is not a cold or the flu, you will never get better, and even a nap will not help. Just eating a salad and hitting the gym won’t slim your face or get the pounds off. Sleeping 10 hours doesn’t leave you well rested, ever. The last minute changes in plans because that “just got ran over” feeling never makes appointments, it just walks in whenever you aren’t ready. Painful joints, muscles and bones, dry skin, breaking hair, hair loss, mood swings, and depression are just the tip of the iceberg. You are also prone to having multiple autoimmune diseases, they typically come in pairs of two. You easily catch viral and bacterial infections. You have days where no matter how hard you try, you just can’t smile for anyone.
I urge you to think twice before passing judgment and thinking our nation is overreacting to the extra measures being taken to curb the spread of this virus. YOU might be able to recover from it no problem however, carry it to someone with an autoimmune disease and that individual won’t be as lucky.
I am watching the ones who will take the time to read this entire post and react. Please, in honor of someone who is fighting Rheumatoid Arthritis, POTS, MCAD, Sjogren's, Scleroderma, Hashimoto Disease, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Sarcoidosis, Hepatitis, Raynauld's Syndrome, Diabetes, Psoriasis, Moldu Illness, Celiac, Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis, Pemphigus, SPS, MS, PBC, Psoriatic Arthritis, CIDP, MMN, GPA and Asthma copy and paste to your page and reply "DONE" on mine.

I'm normally a social girl
I love to meet my mates
But lately with the virus here
We can't go out the gates.
You see, we are the 'oldies' now
We need to stay inside
If they haven't seen us for a while
They'll think we've upped and died.
They'll never know the things we did
Before we got this old

So not everything was told.
We may seem sweet old ladies
Who would never be uncouth
But we grew up in the 60s -
If you only knew the truth!
There was s*x and drugs and rock 'n roll
The pill and miniskirts
We smoked, we drank, we partied
And were quite outrageous flirts.
Then we settled down, got married
And turned into someone's mum,
Somebody's wife, then nana,
Who on earth did we become?
We didn't mind the change of pace
Because our lives were full
But to bury us before we're dead
Is like a red rag to a bull!
So here you find me stuck inside
For 4 weeks, maybe more
I finally found myself again
Then I had to close the door!
It didnt really bother me
I'd while away the hour
I'd bake for all the family
But I've got no flaming flour!
Now Netflix is just wonderful
I like a gutsy thriller
I'm swooning over Idris
Or some random s*xy killer.
At least I've got a stash of booze
For when I'm being idle
There's wine and whiskey, even gin
If I'm feeling suicidal!
So let's all drink to lockdown
To recovery and health
And hope this awful virus
Doesn't decimate our wealth.
We'll all get through the crisis
And be back to join our mates
Just hoping I'm not far too wide
To fit through the flaming gates!

It is with much sadness that I report that Emerley Senorita passed away last night nearly 8 years old. Bertie Berta held a special place in our hearts - started her racing career with Peter as her trainer and won her maiden at her first start in 31.05! However, she finished her racing with 102 starts for 23 wins, 10 seconds and 13 thirds; ran 3rd in the 2014 SA Oaks, won the Gawler Classic in 22.62 after having had a litter to Magic Sprite. Had a best time at AP of 29.73 - was an incredible "leaner" before a race and spent her time leaning against me, if I moved, she would also move. She has had 4 litters, Magic Sprite, Zero Ten, Worm Burner and Ferando Bale (only 8 months). Bertie you will be sadly missed by us all, RIP Emerley Senorita!

Well, today starts a new lot of pups to the racetrack. Emerley Elusive and Emerley Nera are the first two Pantera Nera x Check Yo Self pups to hit the track - both to Gawler and Races 1 and 2 respectively - only bubs but very keen, so I am keeping it all crossed! Some photos of the next lots to come through, the black ones are Emerley Carlos/Dream Choice and will be 12 months at the end of this month, the other 8 are Emerley Senorita's last litter, to Fernando Bale; a bit on the small side, but we will see. Weather has cooled down, how long for is anybody's guess, but hey, I'm not complaining, better than 44 in the shade!! Vadim has taken over all training for my dogs, I can see that I;m going to get a bit fat!!!! I still do the puppies and swim in the pool!
Its getting a bit sad when you lose people you have known for a while, just learnt that Rhonda McAvaney passed last Friday and of course, a few within the industry as well. I think I know more dead people than live ones! That's definitely scarey! Anyway, onward and upward - got new litter to look after = Aussie Infrafred/Emerley Avenue, just 6 weeks, so they are my 2022 racing stock. Jeez, got to hope I'm still around, although as my mum used to say "only the good die young", so hopefully I will give Methuslah a run for his/her money!

And then you all have the audacity to blame climate change!
Hope your movement of what you have created take responsibility for the horrific bushfires that are ripping the heart and soul from so many towns and communities in our country...
I have to ask, how many greenies are at the fire front trying to help these communities? How many are chaining themselves to trees? Are out rescuing the wildlife or that special rare plant species?

Well, the end of 2019 (nearly) and what a year it has been. I feel pretty proud of myself and my achievements for the year. 340 starters for 76 winners, 59 seconds and 51 thirds giving me a 22.4% win ratio and a 54.7% place ratio. The best year ever for the Emerley's! Added to that was a major move to Moppa with 50 dogs and all the crap that one accumulates over the years and the building of a new kennel house, puppy yards, a swimming pool (yaaa) and a new vehicle. Water tanks installed, irrigation to the competition runs, freezer and cool room built ... I think 2019 has been a year of achievements! Thanks to those people/family who have helped me on my way, nothing happens without help and I am eternally grateful for the assistance received. Puppies still arriving, and 12 out in the runs to get serious with in 2020, plus 8 little babies to keep the yards occupied during this coming year. Thanks to my wonderful family of greyhounds who are all related - coming from the wonderful Eudunda Eudunda, the grand matriach of the tribe! I didn't have any Group winners, just a steady stream of "bread and butter" dogs who kept themselves in the limelight. Whilst at times I feel 199 years old, I don't think I'm going too bad for 74, just a bit slower. I wish all my family, friends and followers all the best for 2020 and may your year be successful with happiness and health in copious quantities.

Nearly another year gone! Where do they go? Is there another black hole that takes years along with lost socks, important papers and those bits and pieces you put somewhere safe? Sitting here trying to figure out how to keep the eyes open before going to put the monsters out for their last wee wee break before Santa appears in the doorway, just decided I had better do my Christmas Cheer bit! I would like to wish all my friends and family all the best for this Silly Season and the forthcoming New Year, may all your wishes come true and your dreams become reality. The year 2019 has been good to me, with my shift to Moppa and the building of new kennels and the installation of a SWIMMING POOL, its been well worthwhile. The year hasn't quite finished (with another week to go) but have reached the milestone of 75 winners, Bloody unbelievable. I would be lost without the assistance of Vadim Roz, who puts up with my warped sense of humour and drives my dogs to the race and trial track - I certainly would have met a tree head on during the many miles he has covered - thank you Vad.
Thanks to The Hurley Girls (including Granny) who makes sure that my dogs are caught and to others who have assisted during the year. Thanks also to Adelaide Plains Vet Surgery - who help make sure my dogs are fit and healthy to race. Thanks to my family who put up with me and thanks to all those Emerley monsters who keep me young! Onwards and upwards for 2020! Merry Christmas to all.

Had a few friends over for Christmas as Moppa and was great to catch up with family and friends not seen for many years. The downside was .... after everybody left and I plonked down in front of TV - I just woke up to a few howling dogs (obviously with their legs crossed) and the hose still running in the pool! Will look in the morning to see exactly how over-filled it is!!!! The joys of old age!
