JOB VACANCY: YES! WE NEED YOU!

We have filled the positions for part- time workers at OVH last week. They were snapped up by a terrific crew - and now we need even MORE great people because the clients and their horses just keep coming in the door!

It’s rained, everyone is happy again and they can’t wait to breed their good mares so we need more great people like you to help us.

These are part time jobs perfect for school and university holidays as well as stay at home mums eager to get back into the workforce for some Christmas spending.

Duties include catching and leading horses, feeding and cleaning. You must have previous horse experience, be hardworking and happy and want to be part of a great team.

We require part-time workers during the breeding season. Duties include feeding and watering horses, cleaning stables and yards and generally assisting in the day to day running of a breeding centre.

Previous horse experience is absolutely necessary. Must be reliable, positive, happy, and enjoy hard work. You must enjoy working and being part of a team.

He is a long haired tri-colour

Look who came to visit Oakey Veterinary Hospital yesterday ! This beautiful pair of Rainbow Lorikeets came to feast on the nectar of the gum flowers around the yards and buildings. We love the joys of spring and these wonderful birds are part of the things that really make life worth living. 🌈🦜🦜

It’s a busy Sunday in the breeding season and Dr David Pascoe puts out one of the thoroughbred mares on the farm himself.

(It’s the day after Derby Day and two days before The Cup. (Wouldn’t you love to know what he and the strapping big baby c**t were talking about... )

We are delighted to welcome home Nonda Last Frontier to Oakey Veterinary Hospital for the 2022 Breeding Season and we thank his owners Jodie, Graeme and Cody Rozynski for entrusting this beautiful stallion to us.

It's The Three Musketeers!

Dr David Pascoe with Terry and Chrissie Hall and their legendary champion sire Hazelwood Conman photographed on a freezing cold winters day.

We are wondering what kind of mischief they were all up to!

One thing is for sure - there would have been plenty of wisecracks, fun and laughter.

David has looked after Conman since he was a three year old and he admits that the great old stallion is one of his most favourite horses.

Meet the Plaintree Polo Club.
We call them the Golden Hundred - one hundred and nine years between them to be exact - and I guess they are the joyous living proof of how much David and I really love our horses.

Look at that smile on Jade’s face as she holds (L - R) Sully, 33, Remy, 22, Boogie 30, Sid, 24.

They are off to a new grass paddock for a days outing and they come back in every night to be double rugged.

They are a little bit bent here and there, a few teeth are missing, their coats are hairy and their bones sometimes ache (yes, thank goodness we know a few vets!)

But you know what? When we lead them down to the paddock and you can feel them bucking and squealing behind you - puffing and panting a little, but still utterly bursting with the extraordinary happiness of simply being alive - then you pause and say Thank you God, this is a very good day.

(PS. They eat, they drink and they love watching sport. Sounds like all your old friends, right?)

We are honoured to salute Hazelwood Conman a remarkable sire who will grace the record books as both a champion competitor and a superstar sire forever.

It has been a privilege for us to care for this stallion for almost his entire life. We wish him a long and happy retirement.
