Lexyce Performance Horses is a small equine training establishment based in Oakford, Western Australia, and is run by Alex Edwards. A range of services are provided, including basic horse education, OTTB re-education, riding instruction and show preparation. Alex has ove

r 15 years of diverse experience in the horse industry (and over 20 years of general horse experience) with a Certificate III in Advanced Stablehand, Certificate III in Trackwork Riding, 4 years as a member on the State Young Rider Showjumping Squad and many years as a licensed Trackwork Rider. The property hosts a 27x60m riversand arena with irrigation during the dry months, a course of Jump4Joy showjumps, cross-tie bay, wash bay with overhead swing hose, and access to trails just a short walk down the road. Horses that are in for Training or Sales Agistment are housed in individual paddocks with large automatic water troughs, electric fencing and sprinklers, with laneways between. Situated just a few minutes drive from multiple equine vet hospitals and Darling Downs ‘70 acres’ equestrian park.

It’s Saxon’s last week here before heading home on Friday. He’s come along really well and has been a delight to have around and bring back into work.

He *may* be looking for a nice Adult Rider type to lease him in the near future so if you think you might be interested, get in touch and I can tell you all about him and see if you’d be suitable ☺️

Saxon has been back under saddle now for 2 weeks, with 2 weeks of groundwork and lunging prior to that. He has been very obliging so far, even had his first canter today and was very civilised about it 🥰

A little Monday stretch for Saxon.

First ride back for Saxon today. He’s had a minimum of 6 months off (more likely longer), and has also been having quite a lot of high energy feed the last few weeks, so we started with a quick spin on the lunge each way to check in on how he was feeling. He can be a little spicy some days but was settled from the beginning so we moved to the mounting block, waited patiently for him to process some feelings there (in the form of chomping/gnawing the bit), then mounted once he showed that he was happier with some soft licks. Had a little walk around with some bending and called it a day on that good note 🙂
