🚨🐶 When Curiosity Gets Messy… 🐶🚨

Meet Gus an adventurous pup who decided to snack on something he definitely shouldn’t have! 😅 Don’t worry—he’s doing just fine now, but his tummy needed a little help from us in the form of activated charcoal to absorb anything harmful.

Now, if you’ve ever worked with charcoal, you know… it gets MESSY! So to protect Gus (and save his fur from a charcoal makeover), we suited him up in a stylish surgery gown, function meets fashion! 😎💉

Gus was the best boy through it all🐾

⚠️ Reminder to pet parents: Keep an eye on what your pups can access around the house, especially those sneaky snacks or non-food items!

Send Gus some love for being such a trooper! 💬❤️

🐾💖 Snuggle Alert! 💖🐾

Meet Sophie, our adorable puppy patient who was the bravest little girl during her visit with us! 🐶✨

Wrapped up in her cosy blanket, Sophie stole the hearts of our whole team with her sweet snuggles and tail wags. Despite needing some extra TLC during her stay, she’s handled everything like a champ — and looked so cute doing it! 🩺

We’re so proud of how strong and brave she’s been, and we just had to share her with you! 💕

🧊❄️ Winter is coming… to The Animal Doctors! ❄️🧊

Our brave little patient Winter came in for X-rays to help diagnose the cause of his limping. He was such a trooper! 💪🐾

Limping in pets can be caused by many things — from soft tissue injuries to joint issues or even hidden fractures. X-rays are a valuable tool in helping us get to the root of the problem so we can provide the right treatment and get them back on their paws as soon as possible.

Wishing Winter a speedy recovery! 💙🐶

If your pet is limping, stiff, or just not moving like they used to, don’t wait — early diagnosis can make all the difference. 🩻✨

🐾🦷 Your Pet’s Smile Matters! 🦷🐾

Did you know that dental disease is one of the most common health issues in pets—and often goes unnoticed? 🐶🐱 Just like humans, our furry friends need regular dental care to stay healthy and happy!

Here’s why dental health is so important:
✅ Prevents pain and tooth loss
✅ Helps avoid infections that can spread to vital organs
✅ Improves your pet’s breath and overall quality of life

🔍 What about what we can’t see? That’s where dental radiology (digital dental X-rays) comes in!
Many dental issues are hidden below the gumline. Dental X-rays allow us to:
✔ Detect problems early—before they cause pain
✔ Check for broken roots, tumors, abscesses, or bone loss
✔ Ensure a complete and thorough dental cleaning and treatment

🗓️ Book your pet’s dental check-up today and let’s make sure they’re smiling from the inside out!

Pictured below is a patient that was suffering with quite severe dental disease which meant they had difficulty eating and experienced quite a lot of pain because of it.

Just like us, our pets can feel the cold in their joints — especially seniors or those with arthritis. ❄️🐾

If your pet exhibits stiffness, slow ambulation, or reduced jumping ability, a veterinary examination is recommended. Our veterinary team provides treatment options, supplements, and dietary recommendations to ensure optimal comfort and mobility for your animals this winter.💙

🐾 Paw-sitively Adorable Patient Alert! 🐾

Say hello to Frankie, our tail-wagging, treat-loving Labrador who came in for some radiographs. 🐶💛 At just 23 weeks old, she's already mastered the art of stealing hearts. With her big brown eyes and nonstop happy tail, she had the whole clinic smiling from the moment she walked in. 🥰

⚠️THE DANGERS OF RAT BAIT ⚠️

The weather is cooling down, and mice and rats are heading in doors.
We recently have seen quite a few cases of rat bait ingestion.

The most common rat baits act as an anticoagulant (preventing blood from clotting) that can cause lethal clotting deficiencies, resulting in death.

Signs of intoxication are associated with bleeding and can range from very subtle signs such as pinpoint haemorrhages on the gums to frank bleeding from anywhere.

• pale gums or small pinpoint haemorrhages on the gums

• lethargy

• bruising under the skin

• blood in the urine or faeces

• bleeding from the nose

• continued bleeding from small wounds or cuts

• Abdominal distension (from bleeding into the abdominal cavity)

• coughing or respiratory difficulties (laboured or rapid breathing from bleeding into the chest cavity)

• lameness/swelling of joints

• seizures or muscle tremors

Secondary Poising from rat bait.

Catching rodents may be a natural activity for cats and sometines dogs.
Eating baited rodents can have consequences on our pets. Our pets can possibly suffer from secondary rat bait poisoning.

In the event you see your pet ingest rat bait, or ingest a posioned rodent please bring them to The Animal Doctors ( no not wait for your pet to start showing symptoms) ☎️

🛑 Toxic Mushrooms Are Out! Stay Alert! 🍄⚠️

As the cooler, damp weather sets in, so do toxic mushrooms — including the deadly Death Cap. These dangerous fungi can pop up in backyards, parks, and walking paths, especially around leaf litter.

🔍 They may look harmless, but even a small amount can be fatal to pets and humans.

📌 What to do:

Keep an eye on the ground during walks

Don’t let pets sniff, lick or chew wild mushrooms 🍄

Remove any suspect mushrooms from your yard (wear gloves!)

If ingestion is suspected, seek immediate assistance with The Animal Doctors.

🚫🐾 Keep Paws Out of the Trash! 🐾🚫

We all love our curious fur-babies, but what’s in your trash can pose serious dangers to their health!

Whether it's chicken bones, spoiled food, coffee grounds, or wrappers, the trash is a danger zone for pets. Items commonly found in the garbage can cause:
⚠️ Choking or intestinal blockages
⚠️ Toxic reactions (grapes, onions, chocolate, etc.)
⚠️ Gastrointestinal upset or even pancreatitis

👉 Our advice?
✅ Always keep your trash can sealed with a secure lid
✅ Place trash cans in cabinets or out of reach
✅ Be extra careful during parties or holidays

If you think your pet has gotten into something they shouldn’t have, don’t wait—call us immediately. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
