💥💥💥 Be an Advocate For Your Dog💥💥💥
I walk dogs within the university grounds everyday. More and more people are also doing so. Some are not picking up their dog poop and this is becoming a problem.
Maybe these people have not been in the area long enough to remember when dogs were banned from the university. I'm sure all dog owners enjoying this area would like to continue having this privilege. It is a privilege and as such should be respected.
I should not have to pick up after your dog, but I do so as I do not want to see dogs banned again due to a minority. Today I picked up 2 lots of poop along the main path and entrance into one of the buildings. I regularly see poop inside the university amongst the buildings.
Why do these people think they are exempt from cleaning up after their own dog? You will not walk anywhere else where there are more bins, then this location. You don't even have to carry it far.
Not picking up after your dog here, along with ovals, beaches, parks etc feeds right into the hands of people who want to limit the access dogs have to places. Be an advocate for YOUR DOG, all dogs, dog owners and YOURSELF. Pick up your dog crap so you are able to take your dog to enjoy these places in the future and so can everyone else.
What does your dog do in the rain? Comment using one of these emojis.

Two weeks ago Lenny was given his wings after his old body could no longer go on. He left behind his 13 year old littermate sister Livvy and his human family.
Today was my first walk with only Livvy after 5 years of walking them together. Lenny always greeted me first, usually with a shoe or toy in his mouth. It will take some time for everyone to adjust. He was the sweetest dog and always looked out for Livvy.
Sending big hugs to all who were lucky enough to know him and especially Sarah. He couldn't have been more loved. Thanks for sharing him with us.
Forever swimming and pain free.🩵🐾🩵

A big shout out to our walkers Doug and Sarah for their care and kindness trying to save a baby wallaby.
The mother had been hit and killed by a car earlier. Someone had dragged her off the road, but must not have checked the pouch. There was a joey inside.
Sarah did check the pouch and found the baby, who was quite cold by this stage. Doug was able to take the baby to the vet. Sadly, it was too late for the baby. The joey had to be put to sleep as it had been left too long.
If you see a wallaby, kangaroo, possum etc that has been killed, check for a pouch. If you are unable to do so, for whatever reason, you can call Wildlife Arc or Wires on the Central Coast and they will send someeone out to check.
If you do find a joey in the pouch, it is best to call them as well. A young joey will have it's mouth fused to the teat and can not just be removed without damage.
We are finalists in the local business awards in the Outstanding Pet Care Category!
Thanks so much to everyone who voted for us. 🥰

Extra special food and cuddles today along with an outing.
My previous girl Chelsea, did not make it to her 12th Birthday, so we treasure every moment we get to spend with Cookie as she ages. 🩷🩷

First walk today for gorgeous Rosie who is in foster care with Tiki Animal Rescue and is looking for a home.
This girl is the complete package. Social, well mannered and gorgeous. I even discovered today she shakes hands with both paws.

We have the best job! Who wouldn't want to spend their days getting kisses from beautiful dogs? OK, our days are not always filled with kisses, there is a lot of poop too. 🤣🤣
But today was like that, from very appreciative dogs in foster care with Tiki Animal Rescue, who love being taken out for a walk. Firstly Shane, who covered my face with licks when I was putting his harness on.
Then this little fella, Clarence who at 10 months loves to put his head and paw in your lap and snuggle into your shoulder. They are both just divine.🩵🩵
My 5 top tips for a positive dig park experience.
1. Keep your dog on lead going to and from the car to the dog park entry. I see so many dogs allowed to jump straight out of the car and run to the gate. Not all dogs who are entering or leaving will react well to an off lead dog running up to them. Even though they are OK with this when off lead inside the park. On lead, they are stuck with nowhere to go.
2. Once you enter the park, do not stay near the entry gate. Dogs crowding the entrance to the dog park can be intimidating for other dogs as they enter.
3. Keep your dog moving, afterall you are there to exercise your dog. There are lots of smells to explore as well as physical movement. You are less likely to have a bad interaction with another dog if you keep your dog moving. If the park is busy, I like to walk my dogs over to a quieter section of the park.
4. Watch your dog! You think this would be a given, but so many people do not watch their dogs. It is not the time to be on your phone or talking to other dog owners so much that you don't know what your dog is doing. You also need to watch them to know they have pooped so you can clean it up.
5. Don't let your dog harass another dog and don't let another dog harass yours. When one dog is not enjoying the interaction, it is time to split them up. This also includes one dog trying to mount another. You may need to step in for your own dog if the dog owner of the other dog doing the harasing does not step in. This is why you need to watch your dog and act before things get out of control. If there are multiple dogs causing issues and the dog owners are not controlling their dogs, leaving the park may be the safest option.
