ALERT FOR ALL RABBIT OWNERS
The NSW government has issued an alert to rabbit owners about releasing a rabbit calicivirus strain (RHDV1-K5) to control the wild rabbit population.
It will begin on the first week of March 2025 and will occur in the Greater Sydney Local Government areas, including the Central Coast.
We STRONGLY urge rabbit owners to vaccinate their rabbits before March 1st, 2025.
Rabbit calicivirus is transmitted through biting insects like mosquitos/biting flies and other various forms of contact. The virus targets the liver and is most often fatal. The most common symptoms include lethargy, inappetence and decreased defecation. Other symptoms that can also be seen include; breathing difficulties, pale gums, nose bleeds or bleeding from other orifices.
Rabbits can be protected from both strains with a single vaccination from 10 weeks of age. An annual booster vaccination should be given every 12 months for life.

Puppy Preschool is for puppies between 6-16 weeks of age. The main aim is to ensure puppies are well socialised with other puppies and people, to start basic obedience training, identify any potential behavioural problems early, and to educate owners on all aspects of puppy development, pet care and living with a dog in the family. Our classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6-7.15 and the course is a 4 week program. Please call to book in on 43621644

Warning: although we recommend tick prevention all year round this warmer weather means ticks are out and about in abundance. 1 bite from a paralysis tick can cause paralysis, which can be deadly. The best way to protect your pet is to use an effective tick prevention. We have a new injection for ticks and fleas that lasts for 12 months. Look at this little trooper, recovering after a tangle with a paralysis tick. 2 days ago this little princess could not stand up, today she is standing and enjoying a feed thanks to a visit from one of our vets and some nursing care. See comments for further pictures!

August is Dental month! To celebrate 'Five' has made a video of him learning to brush his teeth. He is working towards learning to clean his front teeth but as you can see tooth brushing can be an enjoyable experience for our pets.
