A proper cool down is essential for our horses, especially in hot weather. It helps their muscles relax, their heart rate return to normal, and prevents any strain or injury after physical exertion. These quiet moments of affection also help strengthen the bond between horse and rider.

We love watching our horses enjoy their cool down time—it’s as important as the lesson itself! 🌞🐾

🌟 The Importance of Exposure for Young Horses 🌟

At Sage Stables, we understand how vital exposure is for our young horses as they grow and develop. It helps them become more confident, adaptable, and well-rounded!

Here’s a perfect example with Misty and Duncan, both of whom are personal horses of our instructors here at Sage Stables. These two are being gently introduced to new experiences, and we’re excited to see them thrive as part of our team. Whether it’s handling different environments, meeting new people, or getting used to various equipment, exposure is key to their training.

We’re hoping to find the time in the New Year to jump straight into showing with them and can’t wait to watch them take on new challenges! 🌟🐴

🌟 Look at Our Chestnut Unicorn, Miss Belle! 🌟

A little reminder that even auction horses deserve a second chance—just like our gorgeous Miss Belle! We were fortunate enough to stumble across Belle back in February, and she has been nothing short of the perfect sass pot ever since! 💫

Belle has taken everything in her stride, and it's truly mind-blowing to think she’s only 8 months into her riding journey. She's proven to be one smart, sassy, and talented unicorn!

As a special thank you to Belle, we got her a personalized halter at Equitana—because she deserves the best! 💖 In the second picture, you can see Beth riding Belle simply with a neck rein—what a clever unicorn! 🦄

We can't wait to see what this incredible mare accomplishes next! 🌟🐴

🌟 Look at This Dynamic Duo: It's Eve Riding Eve! 🌟

How adorable is this? Eve, our stunning Friesian x mare, is being ridden by none other than Eve! Doesn’t it just warm your heart? ❤️

Our Eve is truly a beautiful old soul. She has such a gentle and loving nature, and she absolutely loves looking after the kids in their lessons. She’s the perfect partner for anyone learning to ride, and we’re so lucky to have her here at Sage Stables!

It’s moments like these that remind us how special our horses are! 🐴✨

🎄 Holiday Closure Dates at Sage Stables 🎄

As we approach the festive season, we want to let everyone know our closure dates over Christmas and the New Year.

We will be closed from the 23rd of December onwards, with Sunday, 22nd December marking our last day of trading for 2024.

We will be reopening on Saturday, 18th January 2025, ready to kick off the New Year with all lessons back on! 🎉

We wish everyone a joyful and restful holiday season, and we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year for another amazing year of riding and learning! 🌟🐴

🌟 Sundays at Sage Stables: A Busy Kind of Bliss 🌟

What does a Sunday look like for us? Busy! But we wouldn’t have it any other way. Sundays are one of our favorite days here at Sage Stables—a day filled with doing what we love most! 💕🐴

As we look ahead to next year, we’re excited to announce that we are now taking expressions of interest for regular lesson bookings in 2025! 🎉

To all our regular clients, please have a think about whether you’d like to continue with your current days and times. This will allow us to do something we haven’t done in almost a year—publicly open our books for a limited number of new spaces!

There will also be some exciting changes coming next year, so keep your eyes peeled in the New Year for updates on what we’ll be implementing. 🐾✨

We can’t wait to kick off another amazing year with you all! 💫

🐐 Flashback to Gus' Saturday Night Shenanigans 🐐

Let’s take a moment to reflect on the time Gus, one of our longtime favorite goats, gave us the fright of a lifetime! Late one Saturday night, Gus decided it was a great idea to get his head stuck in the fence.

There was literally no way for him to move without risking serious harm to himself. It became abundantly clear in that moment that Gus had truly lost his last brain cell! 🤦‍♀️

Thanks to some quick thinking and teamwork from both Beth and Mikah, an angle grinder was brought to the rescue. After some careful cutting and problem-solving, Gus was freed—fully intact with all his body parts still accounted for. However, we can’t say the same for his ego, which may have taken a slight bruising.

We’re happy to report that Gus recovered just fine and went right back to being his quirky, lovable self! Here’s hoping he doesn’t get any more bright ideas! 🐐✨

🌟 Look Who’s Joined Our Programs: Flash and Soda! 🌟

We’re so excited to introduce Flash and Soda, who had their first-ever official lesson with kids here at Sage Stables—and they absolutely blew us away!

It’s not every day kids get the chance to ride a donkey, and Soda’s “dude-like” personality made quite the impression. He was a hit with everyone!

As for Flash, he was as cool as a cucumber, embracing his new role with ease and enjoying every moment of his new job.

We’re thrilled to have these two incredible additions in our programs and can’t wait to see them bring even more joy to our lessons. 🐴🐾

🌟 Reflecting on an Incredible Equitana Experience 🌟

This year, both Mikah and I were privileged to attend Equitana for the full four-day program, and what an unforgettable experience it was! From the nighttime jumping action to the breathtaking FEI Freestyle Dressage, and witnessing some of the world's best horsemanship legends perform live—it was truly a dream come true.

Highlights? There were so many!
🌟 Watching Sarah and Harley shine in the Australian Brumby Challenge, showcasing their incredible journey.
🌟 Witnessing Flinders Greentree, at the impressive age of 21, win the Freestyle Liberty—an awe-inspiring performance.
🌟 And, one of our absolute favorite segments: The Way of The Horse challenge. If you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely worth a Google!

Being part of the equestrian community reminds us that there’s always so much to learn and be inspired by. Attending Equitana gave us fresh perspectives, unforgettable moments, and a renewed appreciation for the incredible world of horses.

We are so grateful to have had this opportunity and can’t wait to bring what we’ve learned back to Sage Stables! 🐴💫
