Nearly 90% of plastic water bottles are not recycled, instead taking thousands of years to decompose. Rather than buying bottled water, why not use a reusable drink bottle (check out the options at http://www.earthlypassion.com/) and fill it with tap water, a great choice for the environment, your wallet, and possibly your health. Something that I have learned is that the EPA's standards for tap water are more stringent than the FDA's standards for bottled water. Worth thinking about.

Australia has some of the oldest land surfaces on earth. Although rich in biodiversity the land around Australia is among the most unfertile, nutrient-poor and unproductive in the world with only 6% of the land suitable for growing crops. This means if we continue to clear land, extract water and don’t look after the soil, the quality of the land will decrease further, making it unusable for many to grow any vegetation, retain water and live on.
