This week Veterinary Nurse Kathlene will be travelling to the Gili Islands in Indonesia to volunteer with Vets Beyond Borders! ✈️🏝

There she will be helping the amazing team at LUNI Lombok with a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program on Gili Air.

LUNI Lombok Indonesia is a charity that runs the only veterinary clinic on the Gili Islands. They treat cats, dogs, wildlife, and large animals as well as helping with community education.

TNR programs involve desexing, vaccinating and providing parasite protection to the island cats to keep the population healthy. 💉🐱

It is the most humane and effective way to prevent overpopulation, reduce suffering, and protect the island’s delicate ecosystem. 🌿🏝️

Anyone can help by donating directly to LUNI Lombok via this link: ⬇️

🐾 Places of Refuge for our furry friends and families 🐾

12.20pm Thursday 6 March 2025

Sunshine Coast Council has opened Places of Refuge for those without other accommodation options.

Due to high winds from TC Alfred, Nambour Showgrounds is the only location suitable to take pets (in crates) and livestock (in stables).

Please ask friends or family to pet-sit before heading to Nambour.

• Nambour Showgrounds: Crossover via Coronation Ave. Animals can be housed at this location in crates, which must be supplied by the owner.
• Caloundra Indoor Stadium: North Street, Caloundra.
• Landsborough Sportsground: 15 Tunnel Ridge Road, Landsborough.

Please bring only essential items, your pillow and blanket, as space is limited.

More locations will be opened as needed.

Stay safe and take care of your furry friends!

We hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas gifts and yummy holiday food!

But don't forget that many foods we eat at Christmas, like ham, Christmas cake, fruit mince tarts and chocolate, can make our pets very sick! 🍇🍫

Batteries, tinsel and small parts from toys are also common causes of emergency Vet visits this time of year! 🎁🎄

So do your furry family a favour, and please only share your time and fun with them this holiday season 😊

⭐️ Introducing our current Vet student, Jamie ⭐️

Jamie is a final year student studying at James Cook University. Our clinic is proud to be involved in training the next generation of Veterarians, and regularly takes on students from JCU , UQ and Charles Sturt universities .
