Rottweilers, like other dogs, typically go through fear periods during their development:
8–11 weeks: The first fear period, which can be stressful for puppies because it often occurs when they are transferred to a new home.
6–14 months: A second fear period that can be challenging to manage.

Fear periods are a normal part of a dog's development and are thought to be caused by changes in the brain. During these times, dogs may be more reactive, startle more easily, or seem fearful of new people or situations.

Here are some signs that your dog may be experiencing a fear period:
They may be easily startled by sounds or changes

They may have dramatic reactions to unpleasant situations

They may be afraid of people, animals, or unknown objects

They may bark, back away, or exhibit other fearful body language

They may cower, roll onto their back, look away, tuck their tail, lick their lips, tremble, or pant

They may try to hide behind you

They may snap or lunge if the threat remains close and they cannot escape

To help your dog through a fear period, you can try to maximize positive experiences and minimize stressful situations. You can also support your dog by recognizing that fearful or suspicious behavior may be rooted in fear or insecurity, rather than a decline in obedience or manners.

Great day out yesterday with our newest lil superstar baby ☁️✨️SKYE at 4.5mths old did herself proud, she is loving being at the showgrounds & did so well for her second time showing winning two Baby In Groups. Older Sister LUNAR (repeat litter) took out a lovely Best of Breed over her Dad STORMi winning Rup Best of Breed behind her, not forgetting STORMI'S other daughter FLOSSY owned & bred by Karen won Res.Challenge Bitch. Suffice to say Mr David Staines (Qld) stayed true to type putting STORM & his 3 daughters up. Lovely comments on young SKYE from both judges in particular her movement 😊thankyou very much for the feedback & encouragement.
