✨Wellington CDI✨

An extremely overdue post, but we had a great time at Wellington at the beginning of last month. Having another crack in the Under 25s. Super happy with our improvements at this show. Although our scores didn’t quite represent the differences I felt, I couldn’t be happier with Dennis’s performances!

We are still learning together and improving bit by bit. Dennis’s confidence in the work is growing which I love, now to keep working on the quality and the finer details!

Just love being on this journey with this special horse. A huge thank you to Lewis Carrier Dressage for all of the training at home and for supporting us at the show. Your help and kind words are greatly appreciated!🙏

Thank you to the rest of my team for everything you do❤️🦄

✨Hickstead CDI✨

Finally made it to spring, having glorious weather for the weekend at Hickstead. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite our weekend with not the best lead up to the show. Me being sick for the week prior with a virus meant we went a little underprepared. I was just glad to be able to ride my tests as I was struggling to do my training times the 2 days prior.

Although not the scores or work that we would have liked, Dennis did feel great in our warm ups and pre training. Just a few too many silly mistakes creeping in which really affected our marks. On a positive note we had some big improvements in other areas that we have struggled and had some good marks for certain things.

It was a shame to not put forward our best performances, but I am super happy with how Dennis is feeling and improving in his training each week. Loving our journey of working towards the GP goal!

As always onto more training ready for the next one!

The biggest thank you to my special partner Jake Wood who helped me so much when I wasn’t feeling up for it. He definitely took on the role of head groom!

Thank you to my sponsors for the continued support, even when things don’t go quite to plan💗

✨Addington CDI✨

First show of the year done and dusted! Couldn’t be happier with our efforts in the CDI Under 25 class. It was a huge week for us with trot up and 3 days of competition but as always Dennis took it like a pro. Overall we had huge improvements from our last international. To come away with improved scores in the Inter 2 and U25 GP and a 3rd place in the freestyle is all I could have asked for at this stage in our training.

It has been a tough move over to the UK. Although Dennis traveled perfectly, it took a very long time to get him back up to fitness and strength. Having many setbacks since arriving has made it hard but we are getting there. At the end of last year Dennis was diagnosed with a muscle disease. Unfortunately this being quite a long process to diagnose. It’s great to have that confirmation and some explanations for a few things like his struggles coming back into work. But it’s not going to hold us back, it just means I have to be very meticulous about Dennis’s feeding and exercise regimes. For him it means that performing the Grand Prix work is a lot harder for him than a horse with normal muscle function. But Dennis being Dennis he always gives it a try and does the best he can!

So with that I’m so proud of the improvements we have made in a short time and very excited for the year ahead!

At the end of last year we took another big jump, taking a new opportunity to work with Lewis Carrier. A huge thank you to Lewis for getting us back up to GP shape again and for being there every step of the way at the show.

It’s such a team effort to do these things and I’m so grateful for everyone that plays a part in Dennis and I’s journey🥰

Well the Lemieux British Nationals have been and gone! We were super excited to have qualified and been invited to ride in the Inter 1 class. Unfortunately a couple of weeks prior to the event Dennis pulled a shoe and managed to give himself a bruise.

Although a huge shame, sometimes this is the way it goes with horses. Now it’s time for me to head home for a little 2 week break. Once back in the UK we will be straight back into training and working towards our GP goal.

I want to say a huge thank you to my amazing support team and sponsors for sticking with us, even when it doesn’t go quite to plan.

Well we have officially made it to a year in the UK! It’s been a long road, but we’re getting on track. Little Dennis got off the plane a fluffy bear, 6 weeks out of work and in a completely different country. We’ve survived lots of mud and freezing cold snow. Jake and I bought ourselves a truck, got ourselves jobs, made a snowman, saw some beautiful places and have had a great year getting to some incredible shows and being amongst it all. We are both so proud of our little Dennis who is just the best pony in the world. He has adjusted so well and is very happy again.

Of course this move wouldn’t have been at all possible without our amazing support team at home. Mum and dad your always our biggest supporters. Neil and Paula from Allways Caravan Hire, have been amazing helping us out in every way they can! LaNoir Equestrian Saddleworld and Pegasus Feeds for continuing to support us from the other side of the world. So grateful for Michelle Meylan’s help with getting Dennis back on track with his feeding regime and the ladies from LaNoir keeping us stocked up for all occasions. Thank you to all of you. We’re forever grateful! Lastly to Jake Wood for going on this adventure with me and sticking it out to find the good❤️

Tyla’s Story

TJS Equestrian Services is a small business run by advanced dressage rider, coach and trainer Tyla Schou. Here at TJSES you are offered top of the range training and facilities for yourself and your horses. All ages, types and experience levels are welcome here. Tylas’s goal is to give all horses the best chance at life and help riders to reach their goals, big or small. This is the perfect place for horses to start their dressage career or learn the basics in any chosen discipline. Patience is the key to having a happy, healthy and sound horse. No horse will be pushed or rushed, the correct time will be taken to ensure she gets it right the first time.

Tyla has been riding her whole life, therefore has many years of experience and knowledge. Trying out all sorts of disciplines as a young girl, mainly eventing and then discovering the world of dressage at the age of 10. Tyla’s main focus is now dressage, although she still enjoys a bit of jumping throughout the week to mix it up. Working with young horses straight from the breaker to FEI level horses. Your horse will receive the best of care.
