March is likely to be busy here at Samsuri Alpacas with at least 30 babies due... then surprise! A new cria arrives 3 weeks early!
She is surprisingly lively and doing well, but will be seeing the vet for IgG tests and probably plasma later this morning, just to be sure she has the best chance.
Very loose ligaments and down on pasterns, no teeth erupted. Haven't witnessed her feeding, but to be this bright, I suspect she has had a feed.
Name theme this year will be "currency". So hit me with some names of money.

This is the first broken leg I've had to deal with in 20 years of owning alpacas.
Brittany has been limping for a couple of weeks, at first I assumed a mild sprain, but an X-ray has shown both bones in the lower leg are fractured. Bones are aligned, so a splint, rest and painkillers for the next few weeks.

RIP Tuscany. You were my 'pet' alpaca. Sweet natured, always up for a cuddle. You were a hero, donating blood several times over the years to save other alpacas. You had just celebrated your 16th birthday, I wish you could have stayed a bit longer. 💕
