Nice drop of rain last weekend, 53mm bragging but i don’t mind at all, bit nippy in the mornings though but of with the Drizabone vest latter in the day. Some more new chooks from some first calf heifers sired by little meat ball Ten, he was a favourite of Robyn’s, he’s a favourite of of everyone that has anything to do with him; just the calmest animal to have around, chip of the block Nitro. The apple don’t fall far from the tree 😇 at Heckle and Jeckle Speckles

The last new Speckle calf, ‘till spring time anyway should or could be another 15 Speckles. Maybe some grass by then fingers crossed. We are lucky down this end of the country, don’t have to drive far to see plenty of barren country, not good and lucky here to have a handy reserve of hay. Chooks, the most recent and last for autumn dam HJS u03 Cotton Wool / sire VPS t16 Tia, a heifer look a like of mum, and dad @ 38kg, nice run of girls lately at Heckle and Jeckle Speckles 😃

The last two registered Speckles to calve down came in a rush, yesterday Noelle vps n008 dam/ Captain Bacchus HJS t04 sire, a ripper heifer at 37kg. 7 chooks from 6 mums, twins doing good but smallish, at Heckle and Jeckle Speckles 😃

Meet A Boy Called Sue, he’s 14 months now, at the age he doesn’t know if he’s coming or going but the next 12 months will tell how he shapes up. Not telling the full story how he got his name but his name sake lives in Penola, in a new home 💃 still one slow heifer to calve, she wants to keep it ! At Heckle and Jeckle Speckles 😝

Nearly done for 2025 calving, just a few late ones as usual, but don’t matter. New today in the commercial chook pen, one of Rufus’s : now say that 5 times 🤣 good fun in amongst chooks at Heckle and Jeckle Speckles 😃

New calf today, mum U05 sire T04 Tia, looked like troubles, toes sideways ??? Set the gates up for the first yard visit this year, got side tracked for a bit, anyways returned to find a new heifer. Absolute brilliant calving season, was it the rough season just gone, I think a lesson learnt, marching on at Heckle and Jeckle Speckles 🕺

Gee a few days break makes a difference and the girls handled it on their own, hmmm could do that again soon. Here is S05 and her new calf by Tai T04 from Volcanic Plains Speckles yesterday sometime I guess ?? Very relaxed indeed, and pleased to be back in amongst the chooks: there good, at Heckle and Jeckle Speckles

Notice something a bit strange in this pic, water, most unusual or more to the point a hell of a few weeks since anything near looking this good, not praying for rain just yet but 25th April is very close. Huey didn’t get into it till first week in June, surely he can do better than that; here’s hoping …. At Heckle and Jeckle Speckles 💦💦💦💦💦
