Spring has sprung, magic time of the year, fresh clover, rye grass and a pinch of philaris, and Speckle calves ! a leopard yesterday, all black this morning and a typical Speckle this arvo. First calving cross bred bunch sired by Lucky, a chip of the block Nitro, could be another 5 in as many days. Champ this Lucky lad 🐮

Been quiet, real quiet but doing heaps of upgrades to cattle yards from east to west, well all 3 sets of yards to make things run smoother or more to the point of making cattle work flow smoothly and much more safe ! anyways here’s a little project that’s hit the ground, l like it, novelty idea to show how I rate Speckle Park breed of cattle. Personally don’t profess to any knowledge of the wine industry apart from 2 years in the vineyards around 1972/73, spring calves not to far around the corner, at Heckle and Jeckle Speckles

Nice drop of rain last weekend, 53mm bragging but i don’t mind at all, bit nippy in the mornings though but of with the Drizabone vest latter in the day. Some more new chooks from some first calf heifers sired by little meat ball Ten, he was a favourite of Robyn’s, he’s a favourite of of everyone that has anything to do with him; just the calmest animal to have around, chip of the block Nitro. The apple don’t fall far from the tree 😇 at Heckle and Jeckle Speckles

The last new Speckle calf, ‘till spring time anyway should or could be another 15 Speckles. Maybe some grass by then fingers crossed. We are lucky down this end of the country, don’t have to drive far to see plenty of barren country, not good and lucky here to have a handy reserve of hay. Chooks, the most recent and last for autumn dam HJS u03 Cotton Wool / sire VPS t16 Tia, a heifer look a like of mum, and dad @ 38kg, nice run of girls lately at Heckle and Jeckle Speckles 😃

The last two registered Speckles to calve down came in a rush, yesterday Noelle vps n008 dam/ Captain Bacchus HJS t04 sire, a ripper heifer at 37kg. 7 chooks from 6 mums, twins doing good but smallish, at Heckle and Jeckle Speckles 😃
