Peregian Springs Dog Park

Peregian Springs Dog Park The Avenue Peregian Springs (opp Duck pond & Playground) where dogs can have their mental & social needs met by playing with their own kind - HAPPY dogs

The Avenue Peregian Springs - opposite the DUCK pond - Dog socialisation - dogs are social animals who love company

- Meet friends: Friends for the dogs and friends for the humans - big dog owners and small dog owners who LOVE dogs.

- Dogs are HAPPY when they can mix and chill with their own - this makes them calm and balanced - dogs do NOT discriminate between size or colour

I personally K

NOW all dogs of size and breed can have fun and be friends -

Like Kids dogs need friends and to socialise with their own - they need to MIX and be stimulated in a way that humans alone cannot provide

its amazing how quickly dogs form a bond with each other when the OWNER is BALANCED and Relaxed and allows them to be who nature intended them

The dog park will reduce anxiety - barking, boredom and make a calm happy dog

Dogs who go to the dogpark will be HAPPY dogs and this means HAPPIER owners

🔥 Remember: Hot Cars Are Deadly for Pets! 🔥

Leaving your pet in a hot car, even for a short time, can be life-threatening.

Hot cars are dangerous for dogs because they heat up rapidly, provide limited ventilation, and can lead to heat stroke and dehydration due to dogs' limited cooling mechanisms. Leaving a dog in a hot car can quickly result in organ damage and even death. It's vital to never leave pets unattended in a parked car. 🙅‍♀️

We're Only Human ❤️

On World Kindness Day and every day, we're reminded that every worker in the veterinary industry is driven by a deep passion for animals and a genuine desire for the best possible outcomes for the beloved pets they care for. We work in an often challenging, sometimes stressful environment, but we love caring for our patients and their owners.

Tragically, there's a harsh reality within our profession. The veterinary industry is facing a mental health crisis, with the risk of su***de among veterinary professionals steadily on the rise over the past three decades. Startlingly, a report from 2008 revealed that veterinary staff are four times more likely to die by su***de than the general population.

Sadly, Sophie became one of these tragic statistics.

Here at Beachside Vet, we are committed to honouring Sophie's legacy by raising awareness and inspiring much-needed change within our industry.

We invite you to join us in taking the pledge to support and care for the well-being of our dedicated vet staff by visiting https://ow.ly/niby50Q3j2p. Small acts of kindness can make a world of difference. ❤️🌎

If you haven’t seen her around the clinic already, meet Dr Sarah!
Sarah joined our vet team at Beachside a few months ago and has been making tails wag ever since 😊🐾

To help you get to know Sarah a little better, we've asked her a few questions ⬇️

🩺 What is the best thing about being a vet at Beachside?
Seeing return patients. I get excited when I see the name of a great patient on the scheduler, particularly for a vaccination because I know that they are healthy and well, and their owner is keen to keep them at their optimal health.

🐾 Do you have any pets?
I have a dog (Indi), two cats (Bumble and Baloo), a horse (Shadow), and multiple reptiles at my Dad's reptile centre in Coffs Harbour, NSW.

🍫 Favourite food?
Chocolate and good coffee

📚 Book or movie recommendation?
I am such a bookworm and am a firm believer that books are better than movies! My book recommendations are The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, The Dictionary of Lost Words, & The Giver of Stars. Plus, I will forever be a Harry Potter fan.

🐈 If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
A house cat with a sunny window seat to spend my days. Vitamin D is amazing, and cats are widely known for only doing what they want to do.

We can’t believe we have to keep reminding people, but here we are again.

STOP. LEAVING. PETS. AND. KIDS. IN. CARS. ON. HOT. DAYS.

Earlier this week while out on patrol, members from the Melbourne Bicycle Unit were called to a shopping complex in the Docklands to assist a dog that had been locked in a parked car.

Riding up to the distressing scene, the dog was thrilled with their arrival. However, police were unable to locate the owner of the car. After speaking with security staff, it came to light the dog had been in the car for two hours (!!), with no water or food.
Multiple attempts and announcements for the owner to return were made with no contact, leaving the officers with no choice.

With help from South Melbourne Fire Brigade, police were able to gain entry to the car and save the little pup before the heat got to him.

The owner of the poor pooch will be fined $462 for leaving an animal unattended in a vehicle on a hot day, in addition to the cost of a new window for their car.

Great work to the members who saved this puppy’s life. 🐕

PROTECT YOUR MATE, SHUT THE GATE 🔒

It’s almost time to start the countdown to 2023! ⏰

Unfortunately, some dogs don’t find New Years Eve celebrations as fun as we do. Fireworks and loud noises can be frightening for our furry friends. 🎆

It’s a timely reminder to regularly check your fences for any new digging holes or gaps to keep your doggos from escaping.

Roaming pets are at risk being injured or cause injury to others, become a traffic hazard, or could become lost.

Let’s keep our pets safe this holiday season and remember to protect your mate, shut the gate.

Hello fellow dog owners.
Please keep you and your pets safe during this unprecedented flood event.

Read councils update below.

Stay safe - Callum

⚠️SUNSHINE COAST FLOOD LEVELS RISING SO STAY HOME⚠️

UPDATE: SATURDAY 1.30PM

Major flood levels on the Sunshine Coast have either reached record highs or are expected to do so with up to 200 mm of rain expected over the next 24 to 36 hours.

Emergency authorities want the community to understand the danger this weather system poses and are concerned some residents may have become complacent.

Please stay home and stay off the roads this weekend.

The slow-moving system, combined with another band coming from the north, may see flood levels exceed historic highest flood events and those levels may stay elevated for some time.

In addition, winds will increase today and into tonight, with gale force winds expected in the hinterland and strong wind gusts on the Coast.

Because the ground is saturated, this heightens the risk of shallow rooted trees being blown over.

Between 100 and 300mm of rain was recorded across the Sunshine Coast region to 7am today (Saturday 26 February).

At 4.8 metres, Palmview broke its 1992 flood level record at 7.30am today (Saturday 26 February).

Mooloolah River recorded a major flood level overnight and Queensland Fire and Rescue issued an emergency alert urging Creekside and Kawana Forest residents to stay at home and away from flooded waters.

The Sunshine Coast hinterland is on high alert for major flooding.

There is minor to major flooding occurring across areas of the Mooloolah and Maroochy river catchments and all roads into Kenilworth are closed and it remains isolated.

Overnight rising river levels had caused significant disruptions to the road network.

❗ BE AWARE OF YOUR FLOOD RISK ❗

Refer to the Major Riverine Hazard Map on Disaster Hub to be aware of your flood risk: https://disasterhub.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/

Stay up-to-date with the latest warnings and advice from authorities.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURES 🚧

Road closures are listed on Disaster Hub: https://disasterhub.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/

Residents are urged to stay off the roads, however, evacuate early if it the safest option to manage your flood risk.

if it’s flooded, forget it.

⭕ COUNCIL SERVICES ⭕

Some Council services are closed or have been disrupted including waste collection services which were stopped yesterday and remain on hold today.

Visit Council's website for all the details: https://www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/

Hello owners

The St Andrews Fair fireworks are due to happen around 6.15pm. For doggies around the area, these loud displays can cause anxiety so before you go
- Make sure pets are inside and doors and windows are closed so they don’t escape.
- Distract them with some background music (TV or radio)
- Make sure they’re comfortable and happy.

I will be back to posting more dog park photos from November. Have fun at the fair everyone - Callum 🤩

Council is seeking community feedback on the current and future needs for the provision of a community facility at Peregian Springs.

🐶 Dog owners, we need to talk… 💩👀

This morning our team picked up 26 dog waste bags from Coolum Beach and Stumers Creek and while it’s great that some owners have bagged their dog 💩, it’s no good without putting it in the bin. Leaving bags behind on the beach can also risk harm to the birds🐤 and sea life🐬 that call our beaches home.

When you’re out and about with your dog remember to ! 🐶💩🗑️👍

Let’s work together to keep the Sunshine Coast beautiful! 🙏
