Hope everyone had a lovely weekend, and if you managed to sneak a ride in- even better!
An encouraging and supportive pathway to riding. Lessons

Learning to ride in a relaxed and encouraging environment is so important. I’ve been lucky enough to have taught many people the joys of riding and I specialise in helping those who’ve been out of the saddle a while, get back into it. Children are taught to ride through games and fun challenges to assist them in learning through doing. My goal is to ensure they understand the reasoning behind the
methods taught and have fun doing it. I’m big on goal setting and challenges. Lessons
30 minutes or 1 hour. Lessons are individually tailored to each client. Clinics
Desensitisation/games days/specialist trainers and more. Campaigning/ pre-sale work on horses requiring sale preparation or just more hours under the saddle. A positive atmosphere with a unique guided level system to encourage riders to develop in a safe environment. Valley Views Equestrian is fully insured and we have helmets meeting current ASNZS available for clients. Ages 7+ welcome

Have a nice Monday everyone!

Who’s nearly ready for term 2??? 😎
Luna and Gambler are!
Spaces are already full for Mondays and Fridays.
Luna & Gambler will be back at Showgrounds Equestrian Centre and Oakford Equestrian Center for week two of the school holidays so be sure to book a pony day in!
📣Term 1 Announcement 📣
Due to me working remotely fly in fly out in term one and factors such as heat I have decided to give the ponies and myself a little break and not do lessons in Term 1.
Term 2 will kick off in April
As always I highly recommend Oakford Equestrian/Showgrounds Equestrian for lessons.
Thank you to all the lovely families who joined us beachside today. It was so beautiful in the water and I loved watching everyone ride and swim on Cheyenne and Luna. I hope students enjoy the rest of the school holidays 🐎
Horse beach deets! 🐴 For those coming Saturday 6th (9:30- 11) please take a look at the map below if you’ve never been it can be slightly tricky first time around.
Look for the grain terminal along Rockingham beach road and then turn into the very hard to see car park where you’ll find plenty of parking.
Dogs on leads welcome 🐕
Riders are $40 and that includes a few swims and rides in a rotational manner. It’s always a great day out.
Bring a towel and sunscreen! 🏖️ 🏊♀️
Bit rude….
Oh my goodness, crazy busy few days but what a brilliant way to finish 2023 🎉🥳
🐴 Firstly a massive CONGRATULATIONS to young Verity for finishing in FIRST 🥇place at Oakford Jump X on Sundae Surprise. We’re talking record class sizes and adults versus kids! Absolutely amazing to see all your hard work and dedication pay off 👏
🐴 Secondly Luna had her first real taste of a competitive outing and she was just outstanding. Relaxed and happy to give everything a crack, from cantering through the water, flying over some super scary jumps giving me two beautiful rounds before I parted ways over a jump while she stayed put 😆 it was her first real refusal and I wasn’t prepared 😂
So happy with her attitude and work ethic.
🐴 Thirdly, Mr Alfie is now working like a true champion and ready to be a kids super pony. So happy with my horses and students 😊👏
Have a great Christmas everyone and may all your horsey dreams come true next year!
Guys this is a great opportunity to watch and learn PLUS!!! 2 x free XC training sessions for helping!
❗️❗️If you have a spare few hours on Sunday (17th December) we would love some help picking up showjump rails at the HB Horsewear Jump X, in return you will receive 2 FREE cross country training sessions❗️❗️
Please DM if you can help!
🤩 Look who’s in his big boy bridle 🤩
Alfie was mouthed today. Although he’s been under saddle for a few months now, today was time to learn to accept the bit and bridle. He’s already been very accepting of pressure from our other aides when riding (seat/leg, voice and body language) so now we have added a new feature for further guidance.
I love to leave the bit and bridle until last so that horses have an opportunity to really comprehend the other means of communication before people get too ‘handsy’. Being a kids pony, it’s important he’s sensitive to more than just the bridle and reins in terms of communication and control.
We did some long reining and learned to give to pressure and back up without getting our knickers in a twist. He was an A grade student who even got a bush walk in there.
There’s also a lovely photo of Alfie out and about yesterday with the lovely (and deaf) Susie, a Clydesdale from down the road. You can really see how small he is! 😆

Guys this gentle giant is really something. For anyone looking for a serious competitive mount or just something sane and easy to learn the ropes on. Rambo is a magnificent horse who is up for sale through no fault of his own. Absolute gentleman he is.
When everyone’s eating but you forgot your wallet so you just sip the free water… 😂
Have a great weekend everyone!
Who’s riding, and what are your horsey plans?
Verity & Sundae raising the flag to signal the end of a week 😆
And just like that, lessons are back 🐎
Today we focused on riding the canter gait. My favourite of them all.
Of course we kicked off with groundwork and then some ba****ck riding to get some connection and balance in check because we’ve all had some time off and feeling a touch rusty!
Well done Em for getting a lovely canter going with miss Luna today 👏
Hayley’s great find on todays trail ride. Just another reason to get out there and enjoy this beautiful weather 🪶 ☀️ 🌳🐎
Finding a feather is a symbol of the protection and benevolence of an angel. How appropriate for a rider and horse bond.
Alfie, such a crack up 😆
This 👇🏼
When you've got a horse acting up, not quite fitting the plan, it might feel like a total mess.
BUT, guess what? This is your golden ticket!
The horse that pushes you to learn more will be your best teacher, helping you grow!
It was a hot one yesterday!
Emily-Emu and the ponies were lucky enough to get a cool off 💦
Due to being away for work until the 26th of October Term 4 will start in November for students.

Clever student Lily drew this beautiful portrait of Gambler this week. Thank you Lily, I think he approves 🐴
Final Luna update 🥹Luna has gone from unbroken project pony to competition ready.
She absolutely shone at last weekends training day at Wallangarra.
A 66% in her dressage which is outstanding for a test let alone a debut. She made me very proud with her two bold and relaxed show jumping rounds too. Luna is now taking kids through lessons regularly and we’ve moved off the bush tracks and into the streets where she’s proven to be just as reliable and safe.
Luna will now be taking kids to competitions and pony club, and her next job will be at Oakford Equestrian for the school holiday program.
Thanks for watching her journey over the past few weeks and I hope you tune into young Alfie’s journey next. Alfie is a young Welsh who’s a completely different character who’ll need a different approach to his start to ridden life.
Happy riding!
It’s so easy to get overwhelmed and feel guilty about not achieving what you set out to do.
I love this quote and it’s a great reminder when you feel defeated with your riding. Forget your idea of the big picture for a second and just take the next step, even if it’s going back to basics.
Remind yourself why you fell in love with riding and go back to that place.

🥳 A year of Luna 🥳 can you believe this week marks one whole year of Luna being with us? In that time she’s been broken in, won hearts, attended training days and clinics, trail rides, competitions, pony club and taught little people to ride. With her soft and willing nature she’s been a pleasure to be with and we just love having her here 🥰🦄A big thank you goes to my children Beau and Hayley who have helped guide and teach her along the way. We love you Luna!
All the horses and ponies at Valley View had adjustments today by Dean our favourite Chiro, even Jack (the dog) got in on it. Thanks Dean!
Who’s ready for a beach trip with Luna & Cheyenne? Stay tuned for a date over the Summer school holidays. 🌊 🐬🐚🦄🦀
Thank you to Oakford Equestrian Center for letting us use your amazing facilities. I was able to school young Luna on a brilliant Cross Country course and introduce her to a variety of jumps. The water jump was great for a warm day like today 👍🏼 💦
Just because it’s heating up doesn’t mean we stop riding. We just adapt to keep everyone comfortable. Here’s Hayley and Luna with some hot 🔥 summer riding tips.
Today we took the newbies Luna & Alfie on their first beach trip. The kids did a great job showing the ponies there’s nothing to worry about. Watch them go from nervous and unsure about the scary surf, to relaxed, rolling, splashing fun. Bring on those summer beach trips!
Alfie’s journey… from unbroken project pony to safe child’s mount is going great guns thanks to 11 year old Beau. These two have a brilliant little bond and I love watching them together. What a way to spend a Wednesday afternoon.
Happy hump-day. Nothing like a beautiful sunset bush ride after school/work to settle into the evening. Luna is looking schmick in her summer coat 💎😎
Mr Alfie…. So the journey of educating and developing begins for him. He’s already been backed and my son Beau has done a brilliant job of getting few kilometres under saddle out bush, but Woahhh this little dude is spicy in the arena 🌶️ 😂 I’ve already eaten dirt three times with him! When Alfie gets confused by what’s being asked he throws a tantrum. This leads us straight back to basics, and groundwork has been our ‘go to’ when he gets a bit anxious. I’m so excited to see him develop into a safe little all rounder. Albeit with more baby steps than giant leaps and that’s OK because all horses learn differently how to trust and be confident in themselves just like us! 🐎
Luna week 8! One of my last updates as I feel she’s just about there. In just two months she’s already proven to be a superstar lesson pony for some lucky riders 🤩 The past two weeks Luna has been to Equestrian Playground, had loads of groundwork and ridden lessons in the arena with the kids and I, loads more fun trail rides, an outing to Darling Downs 70 acres and is now prepping for her first dressage test and show jumping at Wallangarra Adult Riding Club next week. With the right direction and plenty of groundwork this young mare is a brilliant safe and reliable steed for the kids. Welcome to the riding school Luna 🏆
Equestrian Playground was so much fun! Thank you to all the lovely ladies who joined in today. The weather was fabulous and the horses were even better. We started with some groundwork in the arena followed by in hand work over the obstacle course and then of course we rode. Loads of fun and laughs and we al pushed through the little challenges that faced us and our horses on the day which is what today was all about!
Here’s Verity Demonstrating on Gambler the importance of starting on the ground first. Learning to sidepass as a rider is just as important to learn on the ground as it is under saddle. Happy riding this weekend folks 🐴 😃
Luna week 6! Can’t believe how far she’s come. Already the kids are loving riding her and find her gentle willing nature so easy to work with. Luna had her first off property outing, a jump lesson-she was a total superstar and even floated there and back like a dream. A big 10km picnic ride and a few more trail rides thrown in for good measure. She happily walked by a man cutting down a tree this afternoon with a chainsaw loudly working away. She’s so fit now and really starting to enjoy her rides. Now we work on balance and working in a more forward momentum in the arena while keeping things short and enjoyable for her. She’s already relaxed and happy, the rest will come with time and direction. You can even see young Alfie in the clip. He’s started under saddle this weekend too and already going like a champ. Happy riding everyone!
Can you believe miss Luna has been under saddle for nearly 5 weeks now?! Remember this little mare was unbroken just a few weeks ago. She’s come so far already and has a fantastic work ethic to boot. My daughter Hayley has done a great job desensitising her and making her feel confident taking children wherever they ask. Nothing is too hard for this little mare we just love her. It won’t be long until students can start to ride her too. I’ve got a busy few weeks of goals and challenges set for Luna and they include prepping her for some outings and competitions which I will certainly keep everyone updated on.
Posting from the back of Luna today in update #4. Gambler is back and it’s a perfect weekend for a trail ride. Looking forward to seeing students again next week.
Some of my non-negotiable groundwork that must be demonstrated before stepping into the saddle demonstrated by Miss Hayley and the ponies Luna & Alfie. These exercises are great for green horses, fresh horses or used as training tools to encourage focus and relaxation. What are your non-negotiables?
Update on Luna #2. 🦄The kids are helping big time with this little gem of a pony and we are expected to be under saddle again next week 🦄She had a lovely 5 week break to take everything she learned in and now it’s time for sweaty saddle blankets and installing some buttons. Check out the desensitising pool noodle obstacle we made today too.
