After this morningโs Facebook post we though we better update our socials with some more awesome content for you! ๐ฅณ๐ Letโs start with Isaacโs 9th birthday party! We had an absolute blast to say the least! The birthday boy was already very confident with reptiles so that made things very easy for us to get the ball rolling. After we ran through our very quick rules and guidelines, we kicked off the reptile handling hour with Isaac holding Homer the Stimson Python before getting the rest of the reptiles out for the rest of the guests. After all the reptile fun it was time for some lunch, weโd like to give a massssssive Thankyou to our hosts for the amazing pizza they made from scratch (dough and all!), after lunch everyone sang Happy Birthday to Isaac and then it was time for us to leave. Something we donโt touch on much in our birthday postโs is that, there is usually one kid thatโs always extremely nervous about the reptiles and in the beginning they wonโt even entertain the thought of touching any reptile. But by 30 minutes in, they have found a reptile they enjoy and will hold onto that reptile for the entire party, we even find they are sad to see them go in the end! ๐๐ฅฐ๐ฆ To date, all of our displays have been a massive success and we canโt wait to see what the future has in store for Snake Cityโs Reptile Displayโs! ๐ฅณ๐
โจ Every one of our birthday displays is truly amazing, each one is unique to the last, yet the pure happiness and excitement from every child is always the same - nothing but smiles and laughter from everyone in the room โจ
Ollieโs 5th birthday was no exception! Such an amazing day with some really amazing kids, itโs was such a pleasure thank you so much for having us! ๐ฅณ๐

With snake season well and truly underway, we thought we would take the opportunity to show you just how many stages a venomous snake goes through before actually reaching the point of needing to bite and potentially envenomating you.
How many of you have heard the many stories of snakes chasing you down or sizing you up to eat? Perhaps, you feel itโs happened to you or youโve seen it with your own eyes. Well, we are here to tell you thatโs actually not the case at all! While it may look like it, read below to find out the steps they actually take from the moment theyโve noticed you in the area to the point where youโve ignored all their signs and they launch at you! ๐
Stage 1๏ธโฃ
The snake begins to flatten itself out and lifting parts of the body off the ground, making it seem as big as it can to ward of predators. It will most likely try to avoid interaction at all costs, will try and escape via the nearest clear pathway or dark hiding spot.
Stage 2๏ธโฃ
Using both lungs to fill up with air and forcefully expell the air out, giving out a warning sound while presenting itself mouth open and as large as it can possibly make itself.
Stage 3๏ธโฃ
Mock charges are next. The snake will imitate launching out for a bite, but instead is intentionally falling short of biting you. After this it will either repeat the same mock charge until your far enough away, then immediately will retreat back as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
Stage 4๏ธโฃ
At this point, if you have not listened to any of the previous warning signs. The snake will now lower its head, revealing both eyes before turning to binocular vision. This is the moment it works out what it needs to do in order to tag you - working out how far away you are and how far they need to launch.
Stage 5๏ธโฃ
Envenomation. Chances are when (not if, but when) you get tagged by this animal for real itโs now going to inject a potentially lethal amount of venomโฆ.run away almost as quick
Love seeing all the DUGITEโS out at the same time! Itโs honestly very rare seeing them all out at the same time ๐๐ #dugite #pseudonajaaffinis #venomoussnake #elapid #australiansnake
๐ REPTILE RELOCATION ๐
๐ Species - Tiger Snake (Notechis Scutatus)
๐ Location - Canning Vale
A relocation job always seems to start the same for us we were relaxing on the couch slowly starting our day. When a Facebook post from Mad Paulys Reptile Removal caught our attention, it was about a reptile in the Canning Vale area meaning we could attend the call within minutes. So in a mad rush, we grabbed our gear and got on the road.
When arriving to the property we noticed the house owners standing safely at the location of the animal and keeping eyes on it, which is a key part to a successful removal so thank you to the house owner for following instructions perfectly! This animal was next to a foot path in bushes as shown in the video. Generally, with animals in parks, we encourage the house owner to leave the animal as itโs not on a property but in this instance it was found 20m from house and next to a very active dog walking route. So for the safety of the dogs, house owners and especially the snake the decision to remove this animal to a less populated location.
The catch it self was easy and efficient which is mainly due to the house owners proactive approach to keeping the animal in sight.
We generally charge $50 for snake calls which covers fuel and time but most importantly, itโs a small fee for our quick call out times and the skills required to professional relocate these animals safely. However, if you are unable to pay the relocation fee - we will connect you through to free relocator who will be able to come out an assist you๐๐

Have you ever wanted to know just exactly how a snakeโs jaw can open up so wide? โฆ.Well, contrary to popular myth, snakes do not in fact dislocate their jaws. But they can certainly perform some spectacular feats of jaw agility! In snakes, the lower bones of the jaw, or mandibles, are not connected like they are in humans and other mammals. At the front, each mandible is attached by a stretchy ligament. The mandibles can therefore spread apart laterally, increasing the width of the mouth. The mandibles are loosely connected at the back to the skull, allowing for much greater rotation than most animals have. This is how the snake can open its mouth wider than its body! The mandibles move independently of each other, slowly inching the prey into the throat. Simultaneously, the snakeโs head โwalksโ forward in a side-to-side motion over the preyโs body, so as the prey is levered backward the head moves forward. The process can take a while. Backward-pointing teeth help ensure the prey does not escape if it is still alive.Swallowing is only half the battle though, after this the prey must also be digested. Snakes donโt chew their food to break it down instead they chemically digest it. The process of breaking down the prey item begins with powerful digestive enzymes that are released with the saliva and throughout each of their digestive tracts. This helps break the prey all the way down including bones, organs and egg shells, things like hair, claws and insect shells will usually be excreted by the snake. Love our content? Snake City Reptile Display - Perth Montessori ๐
Today we paid a visit to Perth Montessori to provide some education and entertainment for our little intern Cooper!
Cooper is apart of the Big Picture Program at his school, a program where students are able to volunteer at a workplace in the field of their choosing and host exhibitions and other presentations on what they have learnt so far over the year.
Cooper chose to focus his attention on Reptiles and asked us if he could join us for a while and learn all about reptiles, specifically reptiles we are allowed to keep here in WA.
Today was his exhibition and it was amazing! What an awesome experience! ๐ฆ๐
