To all of our wonderful customers,

I unfortunately had to return to the UK recently, at very short notice, due to the passing of my Dad.

Maxine (Mum) has been running the Cattery for me, and has been doing a WONDERFUL job. All of our current guests are happy and receiving exceptional hands-on care.

For those owners who currently have cats with us, I apologise if you have not been receiving our usual regular updates & photos. Rest assured though that everybody is safe & happy.

If you would like a personal update on your cat, please give Maxine a call on 0473 665 775. If you send an SMS it will not be received, as call-forwarding does not forward texts unfortunately.

All will return to normal when I return.

🥰 Sweet Lola (17 weeks) 🥰

When Lola's owners dropped her off, they were worried that she would miss out on the "family love" from herself & her children while they are on holiday.

So what do we do? Get our whole family involved in giving her loves and cuddles, so she feels as loved as she does at home. Our children are the same age, so it's a perfect situation for beautiful Lola!

Safe to say it's working 😸

👀 We are always watching 👀

A few recordings (2 more in comments, as facebook won't allow me to upload to the main post!) from our Cattery cameras, to give an idea of what we see when we are off-site. Our cameras are magnetic, so can be moved in order to focus on one or multiple cats, depending on our needs. They are set to trigger an alert to us if/ when there is excessive movement (anything more than just wandering around their Suite), or when sounds are detected.

I live a mere 4 minutes away, and Chris & Katie (the founders of Katie's Kattery) live just metres from the Cattery building, so if there is ever an emergency one or all of us can be there straight away. Thankfully, to date, we have never needed to enact our emergency plan!

Picture here are Ally & Atlas in our Luxury Suites, looking very relaxed & snuggly in their beds, and catching the morning rays through their windows. These Suites have an independent heater, so it stays toasty warm for them regardless of the temperature outside! We do have a wider selection of bedding options, including enclosed igloo beds, but these 2 prefer the beds pictured.

🐈We are always looking to buy cat trees & scratchers! 🐈

If you are one of the many lovely owners who have gone out of your way to buy your cat a great new tower & they've taken one look at it and walked away (🙄) we would love to buy it from you!

Why do we do this? Yes, we could buy from one supplier and have them all shipped to us and it would be all straightforward and simple. BUT, then we would have the exact same cat tree in every pen. How boring, right!

When we buy from individuals, we end up with a big variety of sizes and styles so that each time your cat comes to stay they are having a different experience. This is especially important for our long term residents!

They don't have to be brand new, as they are all go through a deep cleaning and sanitising process before being given to the cats, so if they're a bit "lived in", that's fine!

🔥 WINTER CATTERY UPDATE 🔥

Hopefully everyone is staying warm & dry during our very wet welcome to Winter!

Here at the Cattery we are making some changes, which will hopefully make bookings quicker & simpler for our guests.

CHANGE #1: we are reducing our booking fee from $50 down to $20! This is now fully refundable if you provide us with more than 7 days notice of your need to cancel. It's a great way to secure your booking, and at the same time provide us with the assurance that you will contact us if you need to cancel, which in turn will allow us to offer your space to those on our waitlist during the busy periods;

CHANGE #2: A simplified online booking form! While our online booking system remains the same (if it's not broken, don't fix it!), we felt that our booking form was a bit too complicated & was taking our customers too long to fill out. So, instead of wasting your precious time answering questions online, we will now ask you a few simple questions when your arrive to check your cat in. It will still allow us to provide a tailored service for your cat, but will save your time (and sanity!);

CHANGE #3: YOU DON'T HAVE TO BOOK ONLINE! We are adding more ways for you to book, as we understand that different people have different preferences & capabilities. We are adding a new contact form on our website to let you book online WITHOUT having to navigate our booking system if you don't want to. It will appear at the bottom of our homepage, so all you will need to do is scroll down & answer some basic questions. Of course, you can still book via phone call or SMS if that is your preference;

CHANGE #4: We are making some changes to our pricing, which will benefit you and keep us at the forefront of affordability. Stay tuned for updates on this over the next couple of days;

CHANGE #5: We have now transitioned our Cattery guests over to Advance Cat Food. While our previous choice of food was great quality, we find that Advance better meets the needs of a wider range of guests and has a more impressive nutritional profile, with added probiotics to support better gastrointestinal health!

Inside the Cattery, we are now starting to light the fire in the evenings as the overnight temperature drops. We are also now providing self-warming beds as a standard for all guests. Our more elderly visitors will also have the option of a Snuggle-safe Heat Pad in their beds overnight.

I just want to remind everyone also, that we don't charge any extra for ANY of our basic care options. Love, affection, brushing & cuddles are given to ALL guests as a standard (depending on their acceptance of it!). We love your cat like we do our own, and that won't change!

We are starting to light the fire in the evenings now, as we are definitely getting a taste of the cold nights that will be coming our way this winter!

Our lucky Luxury Suite guests get the best of both worlds, as they have the ambient warmth of the log fire PLUS their own individual heater!

Sometimes I think our guests have it better than I do at home 🤣

🐾 The Unsung Heroes of War: Cats 🐾

As we reflect today on the ANZACs and the countless tales of bravery and sacrifice during times of conflict, let's not forget the often overlooked heroes: cats. Throughout history, these furry companions have played crucial roles, offering comfort, companionship, and even serving as protectors in the midst of chaos.

From ancient times to modern warfare, cats have been valued members of military units, ships, and trenches. Their keen senses and natural hunting instincts made them invaluable in controlling pests like rats and mice, which were not only nuisances but carriers of disease that posed a threat to soldiers' health.

Beyond their pest control duties, cats provided much-needed emotional support to soldiers facing the harsh realities of war. Their calming presence and affectionate nature offered moments of solace amidst the turmoil, helping to alleviate stress and loneliness in the darkest of times.

A little glimpse into yesterday's flooding.

Thankfully the main Cattery building stayed completely dry, so the cats were all safe & comfortable. It's a testament to how well it was built!

I, on the other hand, spent the afternoon wet through, trying to unblock the drains in the carpark in near knee-deep water with hail hitting me, and building make-shift barricades with cat bedding to stop the water from travelling any further than the office. I wish I'd had it on camera, as it was almost comical!

A HUGE THANKYOU goes out to Dusty at EASE WA for putting a call-out for helpers. We had some beautiful people turn up with pillowcases (to make sandbags) and towels. And the amazing team at Hind's donated a truck load of sand for us to fill sandbags and barricade the entryway against any further flooding.

It was quite the day, and today starts the clean up!

A special thank you to all of the cat owners who have kindly allowed me to bring your cats to your car instead of allowing you in to collect them from their Suites. Your understanding and patience is greatly appreciated. I unfortunately will have to do the same again today, but tomorrow should hopefully be back to business as usual.

Now, I'm off to shovel sand & mop up the flood water 🐱

‼️The Cattery is dry ‼️

For anyone concerned about their cats, the Cattery portion of the building is dry (aside from a couple of drips here & there).

The office, however, is flooded 🤦‍♀️

We are sandbagging the front door and mopping up the water, but please know that all of the cats and the Cattery itself is dry & safe!
