Megacolon Warning for buyers!

Unfortunately I created the perfect storm, the most beautiful babies you’ve ever seen, pretty patterns and stripes, the works! They looked fat(megacolon) and healthy (the bones were hidden by fat bellies). So out of 10 there are four left. Except these babies could still have digestive issues in the future. So please be aware that pretty babies with stripes and patterns come with a deadly diagnosis. By 5 weeks, 6 babies were gone and the remaining 4 could have issues at any time, even as late as six months old. Please don’t buy babies advertised with stripes and fancy patterns as you will be unable to tell how long they will live.  this is personally devastating for us, as we pride ourselves on being able to provide the healthiest robust babies you can breed.

Very true in my house especially when Lizzabetta decided to visit grandad one day and excitedly rat hopped all the way down the hallway! Not good to scare grandads that are nearly 90!

Five little baby rats found and given to Cohuna Koala Park, Wow that’s a long way from me especially with the storm yesterday. Thank you Deniel for helping me save their lives!

Today I got bitten by NOT A RAT! Procedure still the same for first aid. I stole this photo, I do seem to steal a lot of photos😂. It’s sharing the knowledge that helps prevent serious incidents.

In relation to yesterday‘s post about environmentally friendly rodent control, I am excited to say I will be attending Owl Friendly Rodent Management being held by Wildlife Friendly Swan! I will be talking about what happens to wild rats and wild mice that are surrendered to our rescue, holding a mini Pat-a-Rat session and bringing some examples of traps and what you can put in them! I will also be talking about what to do if you get bitten by a rat!

We never advocate for poisoning but live trapping. Our wild rats and wild mice colonies are here if you catch any. They naturally do not live more than a year so there is always room for newcomers. They are well looked after and provided a forever home.
