Our Story
ATC was formed in September 2009. ATC is a group of people, who have an interest in the dogs ability to follow a scent. A very broad topic with many aspects to pursue. Any dog of any age can participate.
ATC members can also become involved in street tracking where you are taught how to read the dog whilst tracking in the suburban streets. Also taught is radio communications and map making.
Most ATC members move onto trialling their dogs for both tracking dogs (bush tracking) and then when more advanced, trial for track and search, which involves street tracking. whatever level your interest extends to.
As of 2 years ago 2017 Advanced Tracking Club agreed to support another sport yet to be recognised and aproved by ANKC as a sanctioned Sport and to hold Trials.Training has been underway with positive results and a rapidly growing following.A single dog sport which does not discriminate against handler with physical limitations and dogs who have achieved all available levels in any other sport also physical and behavioural challenges. Expanding the dogs olfactory system is helpful and in concert with any Tracking Dog fitting well within the purpose of Advanced Tracking Club of WA Inc.
OBJECTIVES :To challenge the dogs and at the same time explore a variety of methods and to increase their scenting capabilities by introducing more advanced training methods .To strive to produce quality tracking and eliminate trailing at the same time. Advanced Tracking Club of WA Inc. serves as a platform to source and offer potentially suitable handlers and their dogs a volunteer role as part of Search Dogs Australia Inc. for Humanity.
